some of this, a little of that

Um....no. Have you looked at one of Andres devil horns up close? These are high quality, and the service was great. I am considering one for my wife's Corrolla as well. :)

on top of what others have said...Toyota has been in contact with Andres and they worked out an agreement because adding the horns to the current toyota logo doesnt change it enough to comply with copyright laws i believe...

the whole reason he stopped selling them is because toyota told him to

Hi everyone and thanks for the kind words ;)

Tiger is right! The contact I have with Toyota is an Intellectual Property Administrator at TMS Legal Department. They did everything they could to put a stop on production of these emblems from contacting ebay to letting know forum owners not to let me post anything regarding these emblems. After I had a talk with them, they agreed to let me make them under certain restrictions. Their headquartes is only a few minutes away from where i live and who knows if they could sue me or not. I have no problem with their rules, besides it gives me peace of mind.

The type of emblems that metalmiler is producing is quite different from what I produce, the method used to make them is quite different to begin with. Metalmiller is using a waterjet machine and grinding them by hand. I use a CNC milling machine and the type of surface on these emblems is fully 3D. I put my name on these emblems and my quality reflects it.

I have been getting requests to make other logos such as batman, Volcom, superman, etc. and I am interested but my work and school shedule is always against me. I can tell you guys right now that I have something made of Titanium that you guys might like. I'd rather not tell what it is but I think it's neat. I will let everyone know when I'll be making the other emblems.

I have talked to toyota's legal department for an opportunity to make them again and I'm waiting for their response. as soon as they give me a green light, I will let you guys know.

I have been thinking of making more emblems during summer and winter. I know you guys had lots of patience with me waiting almost a year to get an emblem so I'll try my best for this to happen.

Anyone that is interested in an emblem please send me an e-mail or PM me and leave me your e-mail adress so I can add you to my list.

Any questions, comments, requests feel free to contact me.

    -Andres

CNC can do way more complex shapes (think compound curves) with tighter tolerances.

and CNC can work in 3 dimensions X, Y, and Z.

    Simon,

Let me first say that a water jet IS a cnc machine if it can be programable. Both have advantages and disadvantages, however CNC milling machines tend to offer more options for making parts. Here's a brief run-down of both machines:

    CNC Mill:
Mainly a CNC milling machine is just an upgrade from a conventional milling machine. This is what a CNC milling machine looks like:
    http://www.marcotulsa.com/images/haas.jpg
    http://www.mmec.net/Hass_CNC_Milling_machine.jpg
CNC milling machines use various tools such as:
    Drill bits
    Endmills
Bull nose endmills (radious at the end of the tool)
    Keyway cutters
    Ball nose endmills
    fly cutters
    boring heads
    threading tools
    roughing endmills
    diamond tool bits
    instert cutters
    etc. etc. etc.
    Types of operations:
    *Drilling
    *Tapping (threading)
    *milling
    *chamfering
    *Engraving
    *Can produce 3D parts
*Can have added 4th axis, 5th axis all the way to 7 axis runing simultaniously!
    Cons:
*cannot produce sharp cuts inside limited regions due to the nature of using tools as oppose to a water jet, plasma cutter or an EDM (Electrode DIscharge Machine) machine.

    Water Jet:
Water jet machines use the power of water mixed with powder silicon carbide, aluminum oxide, etc that basically looks like sand. both the "sand" and the water are presurized to create a stream of sand-water flow so powerful that it can cut thru many materials including tile, aluminum, steel, etc. The greater disadvantage is that water jets can only produce flat patters, no drilling, no threading, etc as a milling machine would. Here's what a water jet machine looks like:
    http://img.directindustry.com/images_di/photo-g/compact-water-jet-cutting-machine-364896.jpg
This is what the stream of silicon carbide stream looks like when it's cutting:
    http://content.answers.com/main/content/img/McGrawHill/Encyclopedia/images/CE757620FG0010.gif
    Cons:
    Cannot tap
    Cannot produce 3D images
    Cannot drill
    ....too many to list.

    EXTRA:
EDM machine uses a .004" to .016" wire and it has enough curent that it will disintegrate any conductive material before the wire ever touches the material. here's a picture of a EDM machine in use:
    http://www.mmsonline.com/cdn/cms/AccuraTec---07.jpg
As you can see, an EDM machine can make possibly the finest cuts of all machines.

These are about the main machines we use:
    CNC Milling machine
    CNC lathe
    Wire EDM
    plasma cutter
    water jet
    grinder

These machines are two different animals and it's not fair to say that one machine is better than other, however the CNC milling machine by far has more options to produce different operations. At work we usually make some parts using a milling machine first, then the features that a milling machine can't do will usually go to the EDM machine, grinder, sinker etc.

Sorry if I went overboard with the question, but I love all of this stuff.

    -Andres
