I think that uses Hybrid OAT too... is it also nitrite free? I seem to recall reading Toyota requires nitrite free, but I'm not sure if that's to meet anti-pollution regulations or performance.

My wife has had two Impalas. I don't want anything GM related in my truck.

There is a difference between the pink Toyota ultra long life coolant (premix only) and the red Toyota long life (concentrate, and IIRC, also available premixed). 2nd gens specify the pink Ultra long life. Your 2004 likely specifies the older red long life, which does have a shorter service interval.

Unless things have changed the red version is in concentrated form only. This version seemed to disappear in my area for quite awhile. Last yr. I went to a local dealer to source coolant for an older 1st Gen Tacoma and was surprised to see they had red on the shelf.

Could well be that the red is concentrate only, that's what I run in the wife's '01 Corolla mixed with distilled water.

I was mainly pointing out the difference between the Toyota red and pink coolants to avoid confusion.

Developed a coolant leak, used dexcool on my new engine, about 50k later I get a leak at the waterpump, pulled everything apart, found all the rubber around the t stat to be extremely swollen, and the waterpump gasket had a rubber perimeter seal around it that was swollen also. It looks like the dex cool may not be compatible with rubber.
