    Nice!
Was lucky enough to tour the place in December, super cool facility with mind blowing tech in there.

My neighbor bumped into the dude that started RSi in Ruidoso, and he gave us a vip tour. Hell of a nice guy. Meeting him and seeing the way those things are made really makes me want to buy one.

But then I go look at my available balance and the smartcap stays on my vision board. :anonymous:

Fucking love it dude. Mike has such a vision for the company. Such a bad ass dude to work with. I have been tossing around the idea of doing a Toyota meet there one day for all the locals to come tour it. I am currently in the process of getting my engineering group from UTA to tour it as well. What we are trying to accomplish at SmartCap is already more advanced than what we are leaning in some of my industrial engineering courses hahaha

Mike is epic to work for/with. I have been working full time in various industries for 17 years now and I've never met a leader like him. I can 100% say I've found a place to retire at! Hahaha only 30 more years to go.

I'm extremely happy with the one I got, it's a solid replacement for the GFC to shed weight. My only complaint is the brackets don't have the adjustability to deal with my shorter bedrails, but a hacksaw and a file mostly fixed that.

No I’m not in the field at all, just an enthusiast/nerd lol
My neighbor has a 22 trd pro tundra and bumped into Mike in ruidoso and they got to talking trucks. Mike offered up a tour and he said I was welcome to tag along. Even had my 8 year old boy with me and Mike made sure to turn on some of the machines so he (and us grown children) could see the magic lol

I keep waffling between the GFC and rsi. Rsi would be the less expensive route, I just find the bed access from the camper on the GFC very nifty

Y'all definitely have my interest. The caps themselves look great/functional, I dig the modularity vs my fiberglass that I can't do anything to, and it's 11 min from my house.

Do y'all have any machined components or is it all sheet metal?

If that tour option opens up, I'd love to go.

Man, count me in too, if they ever offer a public open house.

My softopper is starting to show it's abuse age. Its due for another round of window replacements and a general deep clean, but I could be sold on a different idea.

I’ll let Jayson chime in on the machined stuff, because I didn’t see any, but that doesn’t mean there weren’t machined components.

Mike mentioned wanting to do a big grand opening party thing, but idk if that’s in the works or what. It would be pretty damn sweet if they did an open house once they get production ramped up.

One thing that impressed the hell out of me was that with each and every part that’s made, they evaluate and reevaluate and make tweaks. Every cap that goes out is slightly better than the last, and this factory will put out higher quality than the South African one.
After walking through that place and chatting with Mike I haven’t been impressed like that in relation to quality in a long time, if ever.

    It just makes sense though.

You hear so much talk in manufacturing about cutting costs to keep the shop rate down/reduce overhead/etc - but in many places (and especially in my current center) reducing rework/scrap/NCR's is by far the biggest cost savings. Saving 5 minutes on a 4 hour job is great, but the gains are minimal. If you can build quality into your process so you aren't spending 8 hours reworking parts, then you can have incredible cost savings. One of my big projects currently is reducing the "tribal knowledge" required to make our cases and components. You'll still need skilled machinists, but you shouldn't be dependent on one operator to run the part. Your process should be resilient enough to withstand a sick day.
