It's actually pretty easy. Just don't use a towel in the oven. Apparently about 300 degrees is the temperature that cotton will ignite.

Now, i did use cardboard in the oven, but I also put aluminum foil on both sides, heated up the oven first, turned it off, then puts parts inside. It took more time having to keep reheating the oven, but it felt like the most cautious way. Biggest pain was removing as much of the old sealant as possible. Once that was done, it was easy peasy.

take lesson from that other guy, dont put anything flammable in the oven. Use a baking sheet with foil on it, if you insist on putting flammable items in the oven, please have your phone ready on photo or video mode.

IF there is a fire, its too late anyways, must take a picture of it before attempting to put it out.

Had a guy set our shop on fire, burned the place realllll good. He wasnt fired for his actions, but instead quit, because we constantly made fun of him for being a dumb ass... (After attempting to manually siphon, he started using a spare fuel pump and a jump box to try and siphon old fuel from an early 70’s charger.)

Is that the same location that you're currently at? Never would've guessed there was that big of a fire there.

Probably got a small rock or something under the dust seal and some fluid came out... it happens. You can usually use high pressure rinse to clear the debris out, clean around the housing, and drive around to see if more fluid leaks. If you still leak then the seal is probably boogered up but they're pretty easy to replace.

Cool, I'm hoping it is something simple like that. Also going to check my diff breather to make sure its not clogged. Just thinking maybe it could be blocked causing a rise in pressure inside the diff pushing some fluid out. :notsure:

That's what happened to me, and it also blew out my driver side axle seal and pinion seal. They were obvious leaks... much more than what it looks like on yours. Check under the rest of your truck like on the cross members and gas tank to see if you have any oil on them.

But I was running thicker gear oil, geared to 4.88 on small tires, and driving 90mph+ for a long period of time and I guess it got too hot.

I added an inline fuel filter to help burp the vent tube and allow the expanding air to escape around the expanding oil so it doesn't happen again.

edit: the inline fuel filter... I removed the filter element to make it act like a catch can

Had to use two seals on my pass side to keep it from seeping. Still don't know why, but it's "fixed" now

Are you saying you went through two seals before it stopped or you actually have two seals installed on pass side?
