I almost T Boned a dumbass today after driving for 7 hrs. Guy started to stop at a stop sign and then proceeds to roll almost completely into my lane which has no stop sign. I started to slam on my breaks, realized I didnt have time to stop without smashing into the driver side of his car, ended up swerving into the left lane and barely missed his front end. I think i'm happy I still have my sway bar. You'd think people would want to stay out of the way of a 5k lb vehicle.

Do you have to leave the center console open to operate?

No, I did eventually add a 90 degree adapter because after a year of opening and closing the console lid, the mic cable started shorting out (it would get bent when the lid was closed). I also have an external speaker, because it was hard to hear with the lid closed. No complaints/issues after those two improvements.

How are you routing the cable out of the console and where did you put your speaker? I wonder if you could run the audio through the stereo?

I just shut the console with the coiled part of the mic cable hanging out under the lid. It doesn't really pinch it or anything. For the radio wiring, I drilled a hole and cut part of the carpet liner out of the bottom of the console to run the power, antenna cable and wiring for the external speaker under the seat and the PA speaker under the hood. Antenna cable goes under the carpet and through a grommet under the driver seat.

Edit: I think you could connect the external speaker output to the Aux input of the factory HU and have it play over the truck speakers, but then you couldnt listen to any music when using it.

Yeah I didn't think about not being able to use them simultaneously, and I could see how that would get annoying quick. But other than that I am going to copy this setup. I hope to get several thing marked off the list before Jambo.

Not sure it would work, but maybe you could run a splitter and hook up your phone to the second port. Then, the HU is being fed both signals.

    Putting out feelers,

Im putting together a route on Gaia through LJB National Grasslands that im going to confirm with the U.S. Forest Service that its ok to travel. Reason im checking is all the F.S. roads are minimally maintained and just from google sat images some of the trails/connecting roads look like they haven't been traveled on in a good long time and might need some clearing. So with that being said would anyone be interested in a camping/trail clearing trip in the near future? The current route is only 7 miles long so it may only take 30 mins to travel or it may take hours idk yet. If anyone has any input on this it would feel free to chime in

    Side note,

I was thinking we need a calendar of local events within lets say 200 mile range that could be posted on the first page. I can put it together and get it to @Zac of all trades so he can post it if you guys wanna send me the events you have in mind

My CB is also in the console. I cut a hole on the front of the center console and put a mic plug-in there. External speaker hangs out in the front cubby.

Yep, I need to update it, but there has not been much recently or coming up the rest of this month that I know of.
