Well shit! Getting stuck would definitely suck. I’m gonna research it some more and see what’s up. I was mainly thinking like June some time cause I know some of the passes are closed dec-may

You think even if I had a winch?!?

Saw @xJuice tagged me....I have indeed conquered the pass they call black bear. It's not nearly as difficult as some would have you believe. However, don't screw up, or you'll die. Really. It's a no-screw up zone the entire way down. Been a year and a half since I did it but I'll probably go down it again this summer.

Picture for proof. At the time I was running a 1.75" lift (roughly) and 31.6" tires. Open diffs. No sliders.

It's definitely a site to behold. The toughest part is the switch backs. It's tricky in a double cab but worst case scenario you just three (or five) point turn them. I found that if you entered the turn on the high side (mountain side) as far from the apex as possible and then cut HARD towards the apex you could make most of them. Sometimes I'd even take a bit of the wall to get even further out.

I definitely dont mind making a 5 point turn at all lol. I just wanna see it all so I guess im gonna give it a go and hope for the best! Maybe wait till a little later in the season too so I can avoid the snow for sure. Imogene and Alpine Loop I mean.

Planning to go around August maybe, but it is a NM/CO/Moab trip that also involves mountain biking and rock climbing...

Will have an actual post looking for other people to go with after Jambo.

    That is current plan...

    Yea, I could tell.

A pretty good one to boot.

Oh lord... I was going to ask for one... but I guess I will wait...

Im sure I could pull a second trip by then if thats an invite but I dont want to be holding anyone up since I am only 2wd. Kicking my self for not being more patient when I was looking for trucks.

Well, Moab would be some good wheeling, but 4x4 would be needed for some of the trails I am looking at.

No official invites yet, just throwing it out there so people can know about it ahead of time.

Definitely wait a bit to go. June is fine but May might be a little snowy still depending on how much sun the mountain gets where you want to go. I went in June one time and Hurricane pass had a big fucking snow drift over it.

I ran the Imogene Pass Run this past September. 10 miles to the top from Ouray and 7 on the way down into Telluride. Total beating. Way easier in the truck haha. Imogene is a great time in the truck and I highly recommend it. Better than Black Bear in my opinion.

Yeah running is for the birds I have short legs and hate running haha. If I were to do something like that it would be on my MTB or my dirt bike for sure.

I honestly want to get into Trail Running, but just not much around here and really need to train for that on actual trails that I can run.
