1st gen, best gen. Welcome! Miss the hell out of my 01 taco. Such a great truck stupid for selling it.

Whys that? I love my turd. It actually drives dramatically better with all the added weight of full armor and skids.

That seems counterintuitive. What makes you say that?

A few mods have been done. Some more may come.
    Are you lifted?
My lift made my truck drive better. The extra weight on my bed helped the Dakar' s. I didn't really add weight with my stock suspension but I'm guessing it takes some bounce out of the suspension.

My Dakar’s are the same. They need the added weight to ride more comfortably. The camper top and about 200lbs in the bed, she rides great.

Yes 3" full OME heavy lift. Running front and rear steel bumpers, full underbody steel skids besides the front aluminum TRD skid, and rock sliders. I'm rocking about 730lbs of extra weight.IMG_9943.jpg
I can't necessary explain it. Transmission is wonky on the 3rd gens in general. 38k miles later I can say though mine drives dramatically better from when I bought it new off the lot. Only thing I can attribute that too is all the weight I've added to it. Call it failed logic or whatever you want, but I've driven it 3 years now then driven my wife's t4r I've notice the improvement. The first year I almost traded it back because it was so bad I was in regret for selling my 1st gen. A lot better now though!

I'm out for today, dealing with a dead battery and being speed restricted because of new gears means no cross country trips this weekend
