There’s a max of 30 scale points at Shaw’s. Literally every comp except the diehard plays into SORCCA rules, so to have not done something about it and to continue showing up to said comps, without any scale accessories leaves only yourself to blame.

That's why I went ahead and put the scale accessories on the Honcho cage, just in case. I don't think I'll add lights to the LC70 body, though. Too much extra weight for the few times they'd get used. I may be singing a different tune come December when it gets dark at 5pm.

at shaws you get 10 mins for a course, and you can use the whole 10 mins. there really isnt any capability contest there, anyone with a box stock truck can take 10 mins to do a course and win as long as they have max scale points.

thats my point - im not building a scale rig so i dont care about scale comps.

All the scale points do is give you a couple “free” reverses. If you’re not winning, it’s not the scale points.

Dammit Frank, strap some bullshit accessories to that SCX and lets go back for some redemption!

Next comp out there should be Aug 30.

Got some deep dish’s from @Silverspool , and ordered some dual stage CI foams (med front, firm rear - same as in current 2.2 configuration) that are tracking to be here today, as well as some mounting rings to help mounting the Proline BFG Krawlers. Will just be waiting on some 12mm hex’s I need in order to not rub brass, which should be here Monday, hopefully. Got bored and “aged” the wheels, happy with the turnout.

Headed to Lindale (just outside Tyler) this weekend to compete in round 3 of RC Pro Series. Race is at 452 Speedway. Track has had a complete overhaul since last time I raced there, more clay compound than it used to be. Track owner says he going all out on the layout, so excited to see what he comes up with. There’s def and over under crossover which are always cool. We’ll see. Temps aren’t going to be friendly lol. Def gonna fun truggy, so I can see where I stand, being new to the class. Not sure if gonna run short course or not.

    • 15t & 17t pinion gears (will see which I like more) (scx & trx)
    • Reedy 16t 5 slot rebuildable brushed crawler motor. @Silverspool if this is trash I blame you. I havent seen many reviews on it but one guys talks highly about it. (scx)
    • Low CG battery tray (trx)
    • Narrow inner fenders (trx)
    • Overdrive gear (trx)
    • 2 1800mah 3s batteries

Hello y'all. I've been kicking around the other Texas threads a while and recently stumbled into this one. I'm the kind of guy that likes to have too many hobbies, so I figured this might be a good one to add to the list. I'm looking for advice on a good kit to start with. Not sure of a budget, but not looking to invest a bunch right now. I won't be doing competitions, just looking for something to kick around with at the house or while out camping. I've looked into the Axial products, and like them, but I don't really know much more about what's available. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome to the addiction, lol. Axial SCX.2, traxxas trx4, and The Element Senduro are your best bet. Trx4 sport is the biggest seller right now, I think, as it has portal gears, and a simple drivetrain setup. The non sport version includes a 2 speed transmission and functioning front and rear lockers. SCX10.2 is no chump, and lots of aftermarket support as well, just doesn’t have the portal axles. I’ve seen some element senduro rigs with scx10.2 brass so there’s atleast some options of aftermarket mods for it already. If you’re close to DFW, you’re welcome to come check out our rides at our next meetup

Axial SCX10.2, Traxxas TRX-4 and Element RC Sendero are probably your best bet. Get an RTR (Ready to Run) version that includes everything but a battery and charger. They all have some slight differences, but for a newbie any of those would be solid choices. I'd say pick one with the body style you like the most. You'll probably end up beating it up pretty good in the beginning but you can replace it with some other body style that you might like. My suggestion would be the SCX10.2 since it's been out the longest and probably has the most parts support and customization available

**update** Blue rings won’t work with the deep dish wheels, they’re not wide enough to clasp onto the rubber. Prob just go back to another set of Canyon Trails for these wheels and see if I can make it happen. Really want some locked up rc wheels, but don’t want to spend the money for them.
