Hit a spot with @Suprajim54 yesterday on the edge of grapevine/Southlake. Pretty sweet, similar to the lake spots, as far as rock type, without the fishing line and water level to worry about!

What do you guys think about the Axial Bomber? Thoughts on the Bomber vs the Capra? Not sure how I feel about the portals on the Capra.

the bomber is a 2.2 class rig, much beefier and bigger than a capra

what kind of driving you trying to accomplish?

I like my crawler, but looking for a basher I can go faster with. Not necessarily looking to destroy it every time, maybe take it off some sweet jumps or something. Is the Wraith more of a comparable rig to the Bomber?

Maybe I just need to build my own bouncer chassis...

wraith and bomber are both solid axle front and rear but bomber has a longer wheel base. You can def build either for more speed, an IFS rig like a yeti or rock rey will handle higher speeds better stock to stock but wont crawl as well.

The hard part is finding a bomber that isn’t over priced since they’re discontinued. The Wraiths are everywhere...

I've been quietly on the hunt for a cheap Bomber. I've seen rollers pop up here and there for as low as $200, just not since I've been really been ready to buy. Once my CovidBucks come in, I'll be a little more serious. Tower Hobbies also shows them as being on Backorder until mid-April, so not sure if that's accurate. Some other listings they specifically put discontinued.

Axial's site says the same thing about the RTR but the kit is listed as unavailable. It seemed like it was a good machine, I guess it was too much competition for the Capra, so they killed it.

Well that one is IFS, so the Yeti might be the better option

Yeti is more of a momentum style truck, open diffs make it not slow crawl very well. It likes to be shot over things. The bomber is a more capable crawler than like some speed.

It looks like there is a front locker available for the Yeti, but says you lose steering radius. I wonder if axles or something would be a weak point with the locker.

Can also put 1mil or something other extremely thick diff fluid to help the open diff. I believe bulkheads (Diff case) are known to blow.

Is 4 wheel steer allowed in rock bouncing? That would help with the need for more steering after locking the front.

it’s allowed, but seems a lot more challenging when adding speed to the equation.

I have 25mil fluid (XMAXX dif fluid) in the front of my yeti, still slips but noticeable difference on climbs. The bomber cross style locker is pot metal so its the weak link in locking the yeti or bomber front end, the yeti solid steel spool is much better to lock up either rig.
