Finished up the interior and installed a “fuel cell” for funseez... now @Tundra2Play won’t yell at me for no interior. Still working on the back half of the crawler.

Cab finally had enough. Was broke off on three of the four pillars. Now we pull up to the scene with our ceiling missing. :anonymous:

So I don’t do any competitions or anything, just mostly trail, mud, and some rocks. If I were to add another truck to my SCX10II, should I do a Redcat or TRX4? Or something else?

I really like the Bomber. It'll go fast when I want it, but is decent at crawling. I will drive it in ways that I won't drive the TRX. I think Redcat has some kind of rock racer that may be cheaper than the Bomber if you just want something for fun. Of course the aftermarket support for the Bomber will be more extensive. I would say to only get another crawler if you want to geek out on building bodies to scale (drive the shit out of one and keep a "nice" one) or need a second rig for someone else to crawl right along with you. TRX Sport is a good deal and very capable, but the Element or SCX10.3 might get my money if I bought a crawler today. A Wraith might be another decent choice if you want to go 2.2

    Thank you for the reply!
My 12yo son has a Stampede, but he really like driving the Honcho a lot more. I could have someone to run trails and crawl with, if I got another one. You bring up some good points, I forgot about the SCX10III.

It shares a lot of parts with the Bomber, but I think it is more of a crawler than a go fast rig. The bigger the tires, the easier stuff gets, so that can be good or bad depending on your terrain. A Wraith and a SCX are going to tackle the same obstacle in different ways.

I’m as new to all this as you are. Here’s been my progression. I bought an OG scx10. Figured out I’d enjoy the heck out of this, so I gave it to my son and bought a used 10.2. Now, I’m elbow deep into modding it and teaching my son the same principles of repairs and maintenance that can go into a 1:1(proper maintenance schedule, don’t over tighten screws/bolts, drive it properly for the environment and situation you’re in... stuff like that). What I figured out is that the crawlers are cool, but I wanted something capable of speed and able to take a hit. So I bought a Bomber. So far, I’ve only goofed around in the back yard, but I’m looking forward to some hill climbs soon. All this to say, let the boy drive the Honcho and get yourself a Bomber. You’ll be able to do all the same stuff, and get to go fast.

If you get the Bomber, I cannot recommend enough to get the sway bar right off the bat. I HATED the way it drove without one. Torque twist for days

I’d like to add that wheel weights are a huge help too. Mine has the anti-sway bar, but it was still rolling over and showing me its belly all the time. So, I bought new beadlocks and unglued the original tires, this allowed me to add weights. Which has helped a lot! You’ll need to make sure that the new wheels have the SLW style hubs to fit the brass. Just my two cents.

I stopped by LoneStar today and they have a Traxxas 4-Tec in there that is pleasing to my eye. What is the consensus on that system? Are there better “bang for buck” options for on road cars?

I've never driven one, but they look nice. I run the 4Tec staggered wheel and tires on my TT02 and XV01 when on the pavement. TT02 is cheap, but pretty much ALL plastic. I love my XV01, but its really fast and I have a hard time finding enough room to let her rip. XV is a little more expensive, but can be made to run on the road or in rally trim. There's a local rally league on Facebook that is supposed to start up again soon. Track would be at Wild Bill's.

    Anyone seen my wallet?
I used to love the old school 4tec, i dont like the newest generation so much. Have you considered building a kit like a tamiya tt02 or an xv01?

the capra is a damn cool option also, the 10.3 is a real neat truck but ive yet to see one in person

I have not. I’ll look into those and see what I find. Thanks Frank.
