Could you guys recommend me a RTR RC Crawler? I'm just looking for some backyard fun. I don't want to enter any competitions or get into the weeds of building one from scratch.

I have a Traxxas Rustler but I just use it as a basher.

Have any preferences of body style? Honestly, I think the Knight Runner is a pretty good option. Its a good car underneath with a great looking body.

There's also the Axial SCX10.2/10.3 or a Traxxas TRX4, which are both good options, but no Toyota bodies with RTR kits.

I agree with Jim. The NightRunner is a pretty good rig for just fooling around the back yard. I’ve got the Axial SCX10.2 that I’m super happy with. Plenty of aftermarket support and how to vids on YT. It’s the same case with the TRX4 also. You won’t go wrong with any of these, just need to decide your budget, and what body you want. HobbyTown is a decent option to go look around, as well as Amain Hobbies online. Might look on eBay and see what’s available in the used market. I got all mine used at a significant discount. Just my $.02… Let us know what you end up with. We can help with most questions or problems that come up.

Thanks guys. I'm not committed to any body style. Just want something to climb some wood and rock piles in the backyard. I was previously looking at the Axial. I just didn't know if there was any specific go-to most people would recommend or caution from purchasing.

IMO, you’ll not go wrong with the Axial. In stock form they’re plenty capable and fun to drive.

@imthejaybird It’s vanquish, you can’t go wrong lol. I haven’t built it, yet, still. (I did buy some axles from a buddy who broke it down, and built them, for my NWSD Scattergun v3 build, and they are awesome. Decent weight, 50 degrees steering, like plastic more than metal for sliding purposes.) I had other ideas for my pheonix stuff instead. I did steal the trans from it, (can switch from 6% to 30% OD on the fly, 2WD to 4WD, dig operations.) and decided to put it in a NWSD Axial 10.3 truggy I picked up last week. It came RTR minus servo (yellow truck), and I dropped everything but the cage from it. Stuffed the VP skid and transmission in it, and took the trx4 axles from beavis and Butthead truck and put them under it. Stole the long a Dravtechs from the c3, and electronics from the toyzuki v1 (slate combo 2280kv). Ran it after the comp yesterday, and love it. Never missed a beat at WS. Perfect little trail truck!

    ***sidenote***
I’ve officially cut myself off, lol. Decided if I want another I gotta sell one. :anonymous:

My Phoenix build will consist of utilizing my old Toyzuki FMM and tcase, which will allow me to get rid of the remaining bits and pieces from the original beavis and Butthead setup. Trying to consolidate as much as I can these days lol.

So, what’s for sale then?? Lol! I do like all the elements included in this kit, just not geeked about the price. I’d like to drive one to get a feel for it before I try and petition the Finance dept…

You won’t find another kit as well built as these. The kits half what they usually are due to the plastic axle housings vs the metal. Axles have brass sleeves to add some weight and durability. Besides, who wouldn’t want to be able to shift from 2WD to 4WD, change the OD %, and have dig, all on the fly? Perfect for a little trail truck, throw some lights on it and rock n roll!

A stock one handled pretty much anything WS had to offer.

First one to hit the chopping block would be the Toyzuki V1. She’s got XR mod TKO (Ottsix) axles with beef tubes, UD gears in both diffs, DLUX brass knuckles with carbon fiber ackermans, Vanquish C hubs and lockouts, Proline Big Bores, Sea Squirrel sliders. Would be a slider and prob $350

So, when's the next 'just for fun' run? I enjoy the more laid back aspect of that than the time I almost died at a WS night comp.....
