I could almost hear the cannon go off with her picture in the sky when your rig went sideways underwater.

Lucky dog, I'm in cubicle hell today through Thursday. Currently shopping online, trying to decide if i buy lights from Hobbytown or wait for the slow boat from China to pay half price ($40 vs $20). I'm an instant gratification type of person, so i may just bite the bullet and pay the premium. Is a BEC recommended when running lights? I figure I'll have like 11 or 12 - 5mm LEDs total. Planning to run them off the regular battery if it's ok and enough power to keep the lights bright as possible..

Something about regulating the voltage so you're accessories arent drawing too much power from servos, motors etc when running off the regular battery. RC Crawler forums say it's a must for people doing competition crawling, optional otherwise. I'm not that serious and don't plan to be anytime soon. Just didnt know what else y'all had

Mine is not, but John's is. It was a cheap Redcat that he borrowed, but he said it was waterproof. Mine took a quick accidental dunk, but he was driving his underwater several times.

Bec is battery eliminator circuit. It is used most of the time when your running a 3s battery to limit the voltage going to the servo since most servos are rated at 6v. Most esc have a bec built in but they don't allow the current some high torque servos pull. Most light controllers have a bec built in also.. So I'm building a crawler and have a high torque servo (400oz) that will draw more current than the esc will supply so I will run a high current bec.
