Those switches should be thought of as being like an electrical plug.
A plug that never gets pulled in and out occasionally will possibly get moisture on the plug contacts, which could eventually mess up the plug (prong) contact surfaces enough to make the switch not work.

Get at the switch and just wiggle the lower plug part of the switch in and out without bothering to disconnect the plug. It should move enough to restore good contact and the switch should work again.
Might as well wiggle the plug part of the door switch too if it is also there to prevent the same problem.

This free advice is void if other switch problems are the cause of your switch malfunction. It doesn't cost much to try it first.

Anyone have pics of this? Seems like this is the issue I am having. My rear driver side will go down but not back up using the switch. It will work with the master switch, but not the rear switch. Any advice?

I had to take the switch apart and sand the contacts to get the acid off. Put it back together and it worken till this day. I don't have Internet or I would give you a pic.
Its really not hard to do. Let me know if you have any questions . I can go out and take the switch out and send you some pics of it if I need to

A few weeks ago I started having problems with my rear left window. I noticed that when I tried to control the window from the drivers master window control panel that it would not roll up or down. So I tried controlling the window from the switch on the left rear door and it worked fine. Once I did was able to get the window to go up and down from the rear left door switch, the switch on the master window control panel started working again as well. Fast forward a couple weeks and now again I cannot control the window from the master window panel, and I can only roll the window down from the switch on the rear left door. My window is stuck down and will not roll up. Does this sound like a problem with the switches, motor, or wiring? I am thinking the issue is with the motor or wiring since the issue is now happening across both switches and the problem has progressively gotten worse. Has anybody out there had this same issue? Any thoughts on the which component is causing the problem?

    Thanks,

    Tony

I need to try this, now both of my passenger side windows will go down but not up unless I am using the driver switch.

This was exactly the thread I needed to point me the right direction. I had a rear left window that wouldn't operate (up or down) from either the drivers door or the rear left door. After checking fuses and disassembling the right left door assembly looking for anything that looked a little wonky, I finally dug into TW and found this thread. As a result, I disassembled the rear right door and swapped out the switch I knew was working from the rear right to the rear left...voila...I now had a working window. Upon closer examination, I determined the original "non-working" switch from the rear left door had just a little bit of corrosion on it. After a few minutes with some sandpaper and a little dielectric grease, I snapped it back in place and found it to work just fine.

Thanks TW for saving me the hassle of taking it to the shop!

All windows except rear passenger window worked correctly. Took the panel off and PO had unplugged the switch. Plugged in the switch and still nothing. Took the switch out, took it apart, cleaned the contacts, and reassembled everything (I went ahead and cleaned off the straight plugs as well as the 4 round ones - see picture). Put switch back into the door, plugged it in, and everything is working great now. Definitely worth the 5 mins of time to save me $60.

I'm having similar issues on my 2002. I believe this is a different switch as I don't recognize the parts that Ludo describes. Any suggestions on the earlier gens?

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Have you tried to disassemble them?

Those are the same switches that I have in my 2005. Just take them out individually then pull the bottom cover off of the switch. When you pull the cover off be sure not to lose the little rocker that is in there and make a mental note of how it goes in. Clean those bad boys off and put them back together and you'll have working windows again.
