For some reason my 1998 tacoma is not blowing hot air. Its luke warm on a good day.

I bought a few days ago and it had no heat. The temp. Control knob was hard to turn and noisy. When turned the cable on the heater control valve would not move and was stuck in the closed position.

I manually opened the valve and i went from no heat to luke warm and then my radiator fluid turned to rusty gunk so i had it flushed. Still luke warm and the coolant it rusty colored again but no where near as bad.

The floor is not damp so i dont think the core is leaking. Even if it was leaking a bit i assume i would have heat as long as the coolant was full.

Both hoses going to the core were hot. So i think that means its not plugged. I hear no "sloshing" coming from the core either. Any ideas? Thank you. This forum has been very helpful to me.

Welcome to YodaWorld. Replace the heater flow valve attached to the hoses and control cable.

Heater must be on and have flow through core and control valve when flushing with distilled water. Drain/fill with distilled water/run 10-15 min. repeat till drain runs clear, usually 2 or 3 times. Drain and fill with 50/50 pink/orange coolant specified for Toyota.
