Hey I've got a third gen taco, I've been going pretty crazy over the diamond back covers. I've been searching for a deal for awhile but most likely going to break down and buy full price lol. I'm torn between HD and SE model. I don't plan on hauling quads any time soon but I do forestry work and it's nice to be able to put some weight on top. Any suggestions?

I have the SE model. I work in construction doing drywall/ paint ive never had to put anything on top of the cover except for once where i did put a scaffold on it and it held up fine. I think maybe down the road if you want you could weld extra support.

My HD is on its way. Id just like the option of the heavier capabilities, worth the extra money to me of I ever have to strap anything.

I have the SE and it’s pretty damn tough. I don’t see the need for the HD on a Tacoma. I wouldn’t feel comfortably hauling anything as heavy as a four wheeler on a system that puts all the weight on the bed sides. I‘ve seen reports of people having issues with their bed just from the weight of a shell. Bed stiffeners are a thing for a reason. No way I’d put something as heavy as a four wheeler on there.

There have been several rounds of group buys on them here through tw.
That’s how I got my SE and it has served me well.
it memory serves I saved a couple or three hundred bucks.
    Highly recommend.

I've tried the group buy. I couldn't find one active. Then again I'm pretty new to navigating this page. That's a good point for putting the weight on the bed sides. I thought about adding bed reinforcement to keep the sides strait. I'm not looking to put a bunch of weight on there. I was thinking about a roof tent or something that is really as far as I'd go.

I order me SE cover from Leonard USA. If you use the online chat or call them and ask if diamondback covers "ever go on sale" they just might tell you "no but we can give you 10% off"...

They also don't charge for shipping and for me didn't charge tax, and living in WA that's 9.9%. They did use a shipping company i'd never heard of but I did will call and it was in perfect condition.

Overall the diamondback is the best money I've ever spent on the truck.

They also do a military discount if that applies to you. Works for active duty as well as veterans. It works out to about the same savings as the group buys.

    Build thread coming soon.
20200612_140111.jpg Here is an SE with a rtt. It more than handles the weight. Me and my wife even stand and walk around on it when we go to the open road race.
