I'll say this for Diamondback... I've owned three, have worked with them a lot, and while I don't know any of them personally - they have always gone above and beyond expectations for me.

I was under the impression that FR was ordering these item from there manufacture in a package form and shipping to diamondback to fill the orders. Has anyone expressed their frustations with DB. I am also waiting for the FR kit to come in stock to order.

QUOTE="Sk8Cayman, post: 24504218, member: 337619"]I suspect its Diamondback not really knowing the Frontrunner configurations (i.e. I only got one set of mounting brackets and HW, even though I ordered 3 rails.) So they just need to do better partner training. I imagine their Operations having a bucket of FR Hardware bags and just throwing it together on the way out the door because I also got extra HW I didnt need.[/QUOTE]

Is it even actually coming from Diamondback? I wonder if the issue is that DB is getting a royalty for every FR kit sold but they’re not actually handling anything. Order from DB but they just pass the order on to FR who fulfills order?

    Whatever it is, it’s clunky.

2 per rail section. I kinda want to add a 3rd bolt on each but so far so good.

Anyone know if the front runner rack kit would look weird on a long bed since it's a foot longer?

Anyone who’s recently got their cover (specifically an SE) had issues?

Received my cover a few weeks back and have it installed. Noticed right away that there was a bubble of sorts in the metal near the hinges. Is this an issue with all the SE for our trucks? You can push on the metal and it will flex down and back up.

Concerned that over time, this will wear on and even crack the coating. I reached out to diamondback and they are looking into it. Just don’t want to wait even longer for a replacement that has the same issue. A little disappointing for $1,700 and a 2 month wait.

    Thanks!

That’s a bit of a warp. No, mine does not have that. Mine and others I’ve seen sit flat. My guess is they’ll be sending a replacement.

Yeah it’s warped for sure. Makes me wonder what 400lbs on top will do to it. The shipping process was a pain. Hopefully something is sorted soon! Thanks for the reply!

The shipping was pretty easy for me. A truck just dropped it on my driveway.

Was the warp visible before the panel was attached?

Mine required a signature so I had to sit around all day. Yeah I noticed it as the panel adjustments were being done.

Required a signature? During Covid? Wow, maybe it’s cause I’m up in Canada but there’s not a single logistics company who’s still doing that up here. I’ve had a 70” TV, dishwasher, Diamondback cover nothing has required a signature.

My guess is one of the gussets welded underneath the cover was off ever so slightly when it was welded and the top warped. Keeping aluminum panels that big straight when you’re welding on multiple gussets can be tricky. With that said they almost certainly have a decent jig and it should have been caught before it was put in the box.

Yes, signature was required. You are probably right as to how the warp came about. I’m just worried about the hassle for the next one, that may be the exact same when it shows up. Looks like we will find out. Waiting to hear back from them. Not looking forward to a day of delivery again with a second day I’m sure waiting for a freight pickup to return this one...

Looking for photos of someone who has the Front Runner kit they put on the six foot diamondback cover. I'm curious how it looks with the shorter tracks. Anyone have anything?

Nice! Of course they came back in stock right after I ordered all of the components from Front Runner and spent all day Saturday cutting the tracks and drilling/countersinking new holes. The biggest bummer is that you don't get those fancy decorative end pieces for the track sections when you buy the tracks directly from FR. The ends of their "universal track" are already cut at a 45 degree bevel, which doesn't look quite as nice as the decorative end pieces. Oh well, not a huge deal.

Oh I actually prefer the mitered ends for the diamondback it gives it a more heavy-duty look in my opinion

I just received my DB SE yesterday but unfortunately due to work and weather its still in the box. I should be installing this weekend. Ill be sure to take photos and post here and to look for any warp or bubble.

I had no issue with shipping, and the delivery driver even drove it around back my house through the public alley and dropped it in front of my shed because were having some serious rain here in MD the next 36 hours. Thanks for the post and definitely let us know DB's response. I spoke with them a few times via phone and email before settling on purchase and they were super helpful. I hope you get the same customer service!
