Keep us updated! I found another odd finish spot on my cover as well. Still waiting on a response from them. I’ve been going back and forth with them in a few emails, but response from them is very slow/delayed. So far I’m not seeing the same great customer service that everyone has raved about. Time will tell!

What does this look like with the bikes on it? I'm curious about the height

This setup is so sick. I want to do something like this. I'm not a fan of drilling holes into my new DB haha

Oooo, would love to see the finished product. It would be badass if I can fit another kayak on my tacoma.

Looking for advice on the diamondback.

    1. Is it worth spending the extra on an HD cover?
    2. what Cross bin do you recommend for Storage? Does the deep bin still leave space underneath for something like a snowboard?
    3. What other storage are people using underneath the cover. Is it easy to tie down and load balance?
    4. what are the pros and cons of installing a rack on the diamondback vs having something that installs to the bed rails without needing to drill holes?

move been looking at the decked system as well which appears to be a bit cheaper.

my primary use is camping and hauling snowboards, bikes etc.

    1) Do you plan on carrying anything on top of the diamondback at any point in time that has a decent weight to it? If so, then yeah, HD.
    2) I have the side bins for little things like ratchet straps and bungee cords. The deep bin is 13" inches deep, where our beds are 19" at most, so you would still have space underneath it.
    3) I have a bed extender so I have something to hold stuff close to the tailgate. If you get additional tie down points to put over the existing bolts holding the bed on, you can get additional tie points if you need to.
    4) You would have the security of the diamondback as well as the ability to mount things on top of it, plus some space between the rack and the diamondback itself. If you have the decked system and a rack, then you are limited to the decked system space for locked storage. If I recall correctly, there is some space lost when you use the decked system. If you mean to have a rack mounted to the rails with diamondback in place, the problem is that you will not be able to open it, depending on what you get for a rack.

I considered the SE... but given the price difference was $400, and you get 8 more cleats, and can haul 1600 lbs instead of 400... seemed worth it. Buy once, cry once.

Thanks, just on the diamondback site now and they ship to Canada. Is it worth getting with the cleats pre-installed? And see they now have a smooth surface version!

I would get the cleats pre-installed, removes the possibility of screwing it up. The smooth surface version does seem nice, but there were a few cases (I think) of bubble spots where you can flex the metal a little bit. See below:
Not sure if there was a solution or response to that issue from DB yet or not. Something to look for if you do go that route.

I had the SE prior to upgrading to the HD and can say just go HD. The increase in capability is well worth the extra investment hands down. I use mine to haul heavy loads for home projects all the time.

    Hello again,

I’m just wondering how much overhang you have at the end of the bars or if they’re flush with the side of the bed. I really like this set up but I’m thinking of going with medium bars.

Get the HD. You will end up hauling a lot of heavy stuff on top of it

    1. I would just go with the HD. You're basically paying an extra 300 bucks for 3x the load it can carry.
    2. I bought the 8" and I have enough room underneath for a couple of surfboards and some other things--I highly recommend it.
    3. You still have all your D-rings and whatnot so you can tie things down like normal.
    4. I just got my rack, and I will say that it is hard to bring myself to drill holes in it for a rack. I would really only get a rack if you plan on putting a tent or something on it. The Front Runner system is a no-brainer because of the cost. 500 bucks for everything is a hard deal to beat. If you're going to lug around bikes I would just buy a hitch rack so you save money on gas instead of having bikes sitting so high. That is all my opinion of course!

SE was enough for me. The HD is overkill for what we’re going to use it for. The extra $300 was better spent on DD SS3 Pro’s fogs.

Went with smooth finish. I prefer the look, we had no issues with the finish.

Cleats pre-installed. I can’t even remember what they charge but it’s worth it. I installed the Front Runner rails myself and if those were offered to come pre-installed I would have paid extra for it too.

Don’t overlook the 270, I have carried a 4 wheeler on top, and weight was not a problem. I also find the small front doors up front very convenient for day to day tasks.

I’d recommend getting the cross bin 8 It’s super useful.

Thanks, what do you use yours for? I was looking at the 13 for storing backpacks and some recovery gear.

Got mine installed on Friday evening and I absolutely love it. With a friend took me about 60 minutes (with beer breaks) i dont see any issues with the finish or functionality. Its perfect.
