Any pros or cons between the diamond plate or smooth finish?

also with the 8” bin could you fit two backpacks? Or better to go with the 13?

    it’s for short bed tacoma

I keep ratchet straps in the outside small cubbies then In the middle I keep some tools and during the winter some snow gear and a set of chains just in case.

It all depends on how thick the backpacks are but there is a ton of space in the bin

Hey my over hang is like 2.5 inches each side. It doesn’t make much of difference, the medium will be very flush, reason I got large bars is so I can push one side out and mount a bike. I would suggest large bars, worse case u can just have a shop cut it back to flush. Is the same price u get longer bars in case u wanna do some fancy other than just a rtt.

Installed my HD this weekend, I also changed out the front shocks to the longer ones with no issues.

Does anyone have the front runner rack and think it’s worth it? I’d use it for skis, surfboards and mountain bikes mainly. Possibly an RTT in the future. I’m
Planning to just get the se version now with a 13” crossbin.

Yup, have it, like it. Only complaint is that it’s not easy to remove/adjust the uprights.

The longer shocks? Were they from diamondback? Did you do it to get the cab panel to open further? Im curious

If you install longer shocks, there’s no way you can still use the safety catch that Diamondback includes. Of course, you can just not install it... Though, I wish there was an easy mod/swap to still have something in the event shit happens.

    Couple more questions.

    1. What do you use to avoid gear moving/shifting under the bed cover. I was considering a cargo bar and large plastic tubs but would be interested to hear other ideas.
    2. For those with the front runner system, how often do you use the cleats. I've seen some images without the cleats and like the clean look. I appreciate this is more personal.

Get a bed mat if you dont have one already. As for the cleats I use them more than the frunt runner load bars.

Did the catch prevent the new shocks from fully extending? When I looked at mine, (I can snap a picture later), there was no room for the cover to travel up any further..

Yeah, I think mine tops out at the top of the safety catch with the stock struts. I figured you'd have to fab a longer catch to gain any benefit from longer struts.

You know I didnt think about that. Im not 100% sure they traveling all the way with the safety on. I would have to disconnect it and check that.

Here’s a shot of my stock shocks fully extended; you can see the catch is just about maxed out (maybe 1/2" left):
