    No problem!

I'm on the hunt for a plastic bin/tote to fit under if anyone has suggestions. Taking a trip to the hardware store this weekend with the tape measure to check some out. Also contemplating using the space behind for some rotopax but still thinking that over.

I might have an idea for one.... depends. How many inches does the tray extend from the bed wall (depth from bulkhead including that gap)?

Edit: I'm betting you could fit two of these boxes under there and they won't stick out at all.front-runner-wolf-pack-SBOX008-1.jpg

Thanks for the link, this may be the ticket. 9 inches tall is perfect. I'll shop around but keep this one on deck. Price isn't bad either.

I'd have to check on that other measurement. The number one requirement is under 10 inches. The bin will more or less be in there most of the time. It doesn't matter where in the bed but if I'm loading things in there being able to push it to the back is key.

Was curious about these measurements myself... much appreciated! Been considering a front bed molle panel and wondered how much gap I'd have between the molle panel & the bin.

Got a question about the depth of the bin tho. I thought the Cross Bin 8 was 8" deep but looking at your measurement it looks like 4" or so? What am I missing?

Been without power and water... then, my shop flooded due to thawing and broken pipes, but....

Got my side plates back from the laser cutter:

The bottom of the bin is 8 inches from the bottom of the cover. I believe that's what the measurement represents on the diamondback website.

Here is another photo from the other day I took while measuring for what size cooler could fit near the tailgate with the cover on. You can see how much space exists from the top of the bin to the cover.

Note that 8 inch mark on the tape measure is not for the bin it's just coincidence that the angle/depth matched up when I took the measurement by the tailgate.

The space under the cover is the same as the height of the bed rails, right? The bottom side of the cover doesn't protrude down below the level of the bed rails? Except for the lock rods near the sides and maybe the small square braces near the center on each side.

Yes, the top of the bedrail is the same as the lowest point of the cover except for the lock rods. I didn't know exactly how high the bedrails were when thinking about a cooler so I needed to check.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I wanted to ask questions to make sure this setup will work for me before committing.

Anyone have the "smooth" texture finish? I like how it looks, just wondering if it has enough grip. I wanna be able to walk on top of it and not slip. Rains a little bit here in the PNW.

I have one, with the coating. I picked it up as a factory second. Here are some close ups of the surface. It is a bed liner finish. I still exercise caution when standing on it. I can not say whether or not it it is better or worse than the coated diamond plate. But I think it would be better than uncoated aluminum. Please pardon the road grime.

That's the 13" tray. The distance between the tray and the back of the cab can be adjusted, it can slide a little forward or back, although at least with the 5' bed it doesn't matter where it sits because there isn't much gap to reach down into the bed from the front. I'm really happy with the tray, money well spent.

How often do you guys have to tighten the c-clamps? I feel like I tighten them every 100 miles or so. Do I have to do this for the life of the cover?

If you have to do that more than two or three times, then I think something ain’t right. It should be good to go after a second or third tightening from the install day. After that, I’ve done rechecks and they’ve been good. Most of the driving I do is on streets and freeways. However, I still take it out on the trails for some light overlanding/off-roading about once or twice every three months and the clamps stay put. Most speeds on the trails are 5-25mph. Not really doing desert racing speeds. But the washboards can shake things up a bit. Clamps have held tight.

I tightened mine twice the first month, but the 2nd time I added blue Loctite and they haven’t moved again since.

It’s pretty grippy. While I can’t compare back to back I suspect the smooth is almost as grippy as the diamond plate. I’ve walked on mine with snow all over it and was pleasantly surprised with the level of grip.

Nice. Got any pictures of it on your truck? I found a few on Google, but this thread is better with pica anyway. :D
