You talking about the dark specks? I'm pretty sure those are rain drops from my rear end hanging out of carport.

Maybe some tree sap or water from sprinklers? :notsure: Looks like there some droplets on the LR taillight and quarter panel nearest to the tailgate.

Anyone running a diamondback on a first gen? Saw there is a first gen option on the website, but haven't been able to find any pictures or discussion about feasibility.

hey guys..Quick question what do you guys use for cold weather temperatures to prevent the gaskets from freezing to the bedrails? I tried a little coat of armorall yesterday (only applied it on the rubber gaskets)...but the cover panel closest to the cab still stuck a bit when I tried this morning (14 degrees F)..I got it open without to much difficulty... I'm thinking about putting some of the armorall on the bedrails themselves as well..Let me know what you guys do! Thanks again

I Armorall both the gasket and the bed rail. Works well and I’ve never had an issue down to -35 deg C with opening the panels. The gas struts need a little help though when it’s that cold!

Thanks man. I’m gonna do the rails today. I realized that with the gas struts this morning #SlowMotion

Am I retarded or is it just too cold? I shook this stuff up and put some in a solo cup and lightly brushed the gaskets and bed rail caps with a paintbrush and it seems to have frozen. Especially the panel closest to the cab. I just put some Vaseline on the bulkhead and a bit on the bed rail caps. Wondering if that’ll do the trick but armorall doesn’t seem to be working for me

    Probably not a huge issue.

Just toss a ceramic space heater in the bed overnight.

I had the same issue with the gasket freezing so I applied some silicone based lubricant and really haven’t had an issue since. I figured silicone is water resistant and won’t wash away and the freezing temp is way lower than anything I would experience.

Hello, hope you are all well. I'm a little disappointed in Diamondback. I ordered a black smooth HD and called to also get some post production UV protectant. I split my time between an ocean air beach environment and the harsh sun in Phoenix so I want to protect my new $2500 cover from day one. DB customer service can sell me a generic bedliner conditioner that "restores" but nothing for regular application that protects. Any name brand recommendations? Thanks.

I think that the coating may be line-x. Line-x only offers a restoring product and not a sealant from what I see.

I just received my DB today and install went smoothly until safety catch. I closed the cab end and when it went to close it it was a little rough and I tried opening it and it caught. But the little piece of metal that goes over the bolt is bent. Now when I close it and open it, the catch doesn’t even catch at all. Any one have any suggestions?

That flat piece of metal should sit behind the bolt if I remember correctly. I can check in the morning and snap a pic.

Edit: Just revisited the install instructions. You may have to try and flip the panel fully open then attempt to bend that bit of metal back to its original state. It should sit flat and behind the bolt.

Am I the only one that thinks that monstrosity of a cover is a ghetto POS?
Why would anyone ruin a great bed cover buy putting that junk on it?

Just mount a 50 cal machine gun on it and send it to the front lines. It can join the ranks of the Toyotas of War.

I did do that. I have to try to bend the metal back into place somehow. When I open the cab side panel and the safety latch catches, the latch completely falls off and then I’m able to open the panel all the way if that makes sense. Other times I can’t even get the cab panel to open all the way. I don’t know if that’s how it’s supposed to be or if something went wrong on my end with the installation.

Also when you guys have weight on your DB, are you able to open the tailgate easily? I tried earlier and not that it wouldn’t open, but it wouldn’t fall on its own. I may have some adjusting to do on pushing the actual cover a little closer to the cab, but I just wanted to make sure.

Mine aswell. Although every so often I have something heavy strapped to the top and then the tailgate won’t open. Always take me a moment to realize.
