Oh the 22 has a decent gap too, just don't like the idea of filling it up with silicone. I plan to take a look at the tailgate side of things too even though it is not mentioned in their install guide. Thanks!

Was able to fill the gap between the bulkhead and the bed sides with foam, and a little butyl, will tweak it once the cover seals break in. Cleat placement still being decided.

Also was able to fit the cross bar off the old truck. Should work well for bikes for the time being. Still going to research a solution more worthy of the DB.

When was your DB manufactured? I called and apparently this year they switched the locks to Medeco which should be more difficult to pick.

My buddy has one from 2019 and called DB stating his concern when he accidentally realized his generic key for his RV storage opened his DB. He was so pissed because DB certainly provides the illusion of security - at least it hardens the target. Anyway, they shipped him out the new Medeco lock and key set and he was able to install the new mechanism himself.

I'm not going to lie, I'd totally love to figure out how to rig up a power lock on mine when I get it.

Sounds intriguing. Is this similar to the tailgate power lock but applied to the DB?

You know what went into the lock swap? I bought my DB in 2020 and its not Medeco. Curious if I might write them about an upgrade

For those with the Front runner rail system installed. What is the distance from the edge you used? I just received my HD cover from @DiamondBack Covers and it looks like from one end to the other on the rails its different distances. For example, one end might 1.5” and the other end is 2” from edge. Tried to take pictures to show. My concern would be when I actually installed the front runner bars they won’t line up evenly. Really don’t want to have to redrill as I paid to have them from the factory. Thanks

The diamondback cover is actually tapered, so you in theory should be good.

Another question and you'd probably be the best to answer since were both from MA and dealing with same weather. I know Diamondback recommends installing at over 55 degrees. You think I'd have any issues with seating if I did it in the next few days? Doesn't look like we'll reach above 60 for the next week or so

I see the concern from DB where the seals might have issues. I have some other things I need to talk with them about, lol.

I personally don’t see an issue with installing under 55 though.
If anything, I would say wait until Saturday to do it. My weather shows a high of 70, so that would be the best day to do it.

Haha I do see that now. Going to be hard to look at it sit there, even for two days so we'll see. Might need to though especially for adding the silicone along the cab side corners.

I feel you on that. I’d say put in the weatherstripping today, the ones that supposed to go under the bulkhead. If the silicone says you can apply in this temp, do that too to make sure everything settles and cures before you get the cover on.

I would make sure your DB cover is installed when you are trying to line up the FR rails. Like the previous said, the rails taper in. The DB cover actually is a trapezoid when seen from above. However, I would try to keep the rails parallel to each other as much as you can. It will make moving racks and such less of an issue later on. Mine are slightly out of parallel and I wish i would have paid more attention to it, but I don't move my racks that often, so it isn't a huge issue I guess.

I only have the two rear rails on now and I got the taller brackets (1-2" taller, I think). I use them to carry a roof top tent and it allows full access of the front DB leaf.

Unsure if this question has been answered or not. I found a used Diamondback SE on Facebook Marketplace for a good deal...like $200. I am picking it up Friday. Owner has the mounting hardware but has misplaced the keys. Two questions:

    1. I'm assuming I can contact Diamondback to get a replacement set of keys?
    2. The color is aluminum, but I'd like to go with black. Is there any issue with using an acrylic or a latex spray paint to go with a black color instead?
