Just ordered a Diamondback SE smooth finished for my 2018 A/C long bed. Been humming and hawing forever about it, but I need a little more security these days, tired of taking stuff out of the bed to lock it up in the cab. I’ll finally be able to securely transport my .50 Barrett in its case too, that damned thing does not fit well in an access cab when it’s cased.

Put my RTT on the Front Runner last Sunday. The Tepui Ayer fits perfect on the back. Going camping!

Here’s a few pics of the low-profile tie downs I used.

That actually looks good! Does that mess with your warranty though?

I wouldn’t think it would have any effect on warranty unless I’m trying to claim a leak from one of those areas. How is this any different in mounting their tie-downs? You can have them ship you them uninstalled for you to locate them where you’d like. That’s what they did to me. They sent me a set uninstalled based on the options I selected.

Man, I do like the look of the DB in black regardless of the model chosen. I simply love how secure it looks!

I was lucky to get an HD from their outlet store, with the defect being that they sprayed the bedliner too thick on the Diamondback logo / text. No other out of specification / defects were noted by Diamondback, so it's a perfectly functioning cover.

The logo is hard to make out if I look at it closely, but it was also discounted 20% making it hard to pass up.

They said install would be quick - maybe I'm just slow but it took me close to two hours!

Hey you guys. I have a question. I recieved my Diamndback SE cover for my 2018 Tacoma A.C longbed today. Was going through the instructions and started later this evening. I don't think Diamondback customer service is open at the moment. Wanted to ask a install question of those whom already installed...

My instructions came with a requirement that I was to install 8 shims underneath the bedcap rails of my Tacoma. I did so, and it just doesn't seem right, at least from eyeballing it. Their is a definite bend in the middle of the bedcap rails after I installed the 8 shims on each side, IAW with their instructions. I sort of expect that the shims will be compressed as I install the center panel, but this is like really pronounced.

The pictures in the instructions don't exactly mimic the actual physical bedcap mounting holes in my bed, as I would expect. There is a difference in how they are situated as opposed to Diamondback's install instructions. I used all eight shims on each side as best as I could IAW their instructions.

Did you guys install the 8 shims on each side? Was it in your instructions? I took pictures of the instructions and a pic as best as I could of the left side bed cap, with the bulging mid section due to the shims.

i just put mine together two days ago. I put the shims on there and it went back on just fine. The picture matched my tail caps perfectly so I just mirrored the picture. Honestly don’t even think you need to even install them really. I think it’s more for the C hooks and middle part to not mess up the truck, but I think this is a newer thing from them.

I installed my Diamondback SE 3 weeks ago and was confused about the shims. All the install videos I watched did not mention them. With the shims installed I noticed the same bowing of the bedrail. After clamping the cover down it looks right. I'm sure the shims are to keep the plastic bedrail from compressing to much causing the middle section to "sink" in relation to the rest of the cover. The Diamondback sure looks good on the Tacoma!

Roughly a $340 discount for lettering that isn't as prominent? I would take that too!

But, come on man! 2-hrs to install?

Just kidding. I try to take my time with project installs...I want it done correctly.
