Do you have a pic of this? I see this often suggested and it sounds like a great idea.

no pics, its a weatherproof bed light kit but run horizontally under the diamond back rather than under the bed rails.

I had @kmorgan3 build me a harness that taps the 3 position switch to run the blue and purple wire out.
You can use the blue or the purple to trigger a ground actuated relay to operate whatever you want. bed (cover lights)
Purple is the center selection and illuminates when the doors open.
Blue relies on selecting cargo light "on" all the way to the right.

Here is my setup I eventually ran with:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...d-lights-3rd-gen.391380/page-69#post-24174144
I ended up splicing the two horizontal ones together with the regular strip he makes and just attached that all to the bed switch he provides.

Hey, that's on the tonneau?! I'm very interested in this, how does it mount? I went looking for info on that but only see rooftop setups, any links I can explore?

That's the Front Runner system that someone made work originally, but then Diamondback did an actual collab with Front Runner:

I’ve had one for about a year and a half and it’s been great for me. Obviously keeps everything secure and gives you easy access to the bed. I have some racks that I mounted to it that still allows me to open the panels. Allows me to carry as much gear as I need. Still have all the functionality of the truck and bed with them. Definitely a little pricey but they’re solid and worth it imo. Also hold their value if you go to resell at some point.

I'm going to go with the SE, once my truck gets to the dealer this week I will order it from and have it installed from Diamondback dealer, I have back issues and rather not deal with added pain

Love this thing! Had a bed rack, thought I wanted a canopy, but this is where it’s at. Access to front of bed was what sold me. I’ve got a shelf attached to the wheel wells behind the cab. Oh, and went from 16.5 mpg to 19+

The smooth finish a dealer can't get, it's a on-line thing I confirmed with Diamond Back. I even asked the dealer if I order it and have it shipped to them will they install it, they said no. So two options
    1. The dealer is 50 miles from me, have them install the ruff look one
    2. Diamondback is over 200 miles from me, go to them for the smooth version and they will install it for me

FWIW, I found the install very straightforward. Took a little while, but the instruction are excellent, best I've seen really.

Even the diamond back person I spoke too thought the policy of the smooth version online only was ridiculous

I called 10 places to see if they deal with Diamondback or if they would install it if I supply it.
They all said NO on dealing with them and no on installation
They all said they are quality but to be a dealer they ask fir alot of money and they don't have enough customers for Diamondback. Oh well just might have to move on

Mine took 13 weeks but that was last year. Give them a call. Friendly bunch of folks over there. They were spot on with the delivery estimate so they'll let you know.

FYI, installation is really easy. Instructions are fool proof. I had mine installed in less than an hour. Two weeks later, tighten up all the bolts, and you will be good to go.
