I installed my own cleats, it was really easy. But, you may as well let the factory do it.

when I bought the db, I didn’t really foresee myself putting stuff on top of it, thus didn’t get the cleats pre installed. But, in reality I find myself strapping stuff up there all the time

If your getting the cleats have DB install them especially with the diamond pattern can be a pita to get them to lay flush.

I gotta say about the Diamondback, the security was the best feature for me.

I lived in the downtown of a city and people had their cars broken into all the time. Diamondback looks beefy enough to deter most thieves and even when I had idiot with a knife try to cut under the edge… it’s obvious he/they gave up. Surprisingly the seal has still held up well and not leaked yet despite the clear intended knife job in the back.

I've had a diamondback hd on my 2020 OR SB for 3 years and I love it. I have a front runner rack system as well for a RTT and has worked great. I am intending to trade my Tacoma for a Tundra and intend to get a Diamondback for it as well. Secure, looks great, not waterproof but darn close, well made. Would post out for sale on TW but even though I've lurked for years I don't have 50 posts so I can't  just sayin'

Find any of the BS threads and start making some conversation. You will hit 50 posts in no time!

Also good job on reading all the BST rules first! Lots of people don’t and get banned quite quick.

I have had a Diamondback SE for the past 4 years.

    Pros:
    • Very secure, nobody’s getting into it
    • Strong enough for putting stuff on. I added aluminum extrusions and mounted a RTT to it.
    • Mod-able. I mounted a third brake light to it.
    • You can walk on it. Handy.
    • It swings open to access stuff.
    • Bedliner finish holds up well.
    • Decent water intrusion protection even without going crazy sealing things up. Good enough for me.
    Cons:
    • Relatively heavy compared to composite tonneaus
    • Does NOT fully come off particularly easily and reinstall easily, as they claim. Frankly it’s pretty annoying to do.
    • Occupies a fair amount of rail space.
    • Easy to forget to lock it. I wish you could easily lock it without a key. Just like a push button lock would be nice.
    • Ladies tend to struggle with twisting the door latches to open and close the doors.

I've had to get into the habit of always locking the front, as I have the bin8, which I keep good stuff in. I usually don't lock the back.

I brought my truck in for Service 3 and have a yearly detailing on my account. I picked up the truck and saw the bed dirty -- the service advisor said that the detail guy didn't know how to open the turnlock and was afraid to break the cover .

I opened the bed for them and they were able to clean / detail the bed. What an odd excuse :p.

I bought my DB HD before I bought my truck. Worth it for sure. I have moved a bunch, road tripped all over the country and carry “high dollar” items in the bed often. Honestly the most practical thing I have purchased for my truck that I use weekly. You pay for peace of mind. I never worry someone will break in and steal stuff because most thieves don’t carry a plasma torch. Someone said it doesn’t come off and on easy, that’s simply not true. I can take it off in under 5 mins and have it reinstalled in 10 mins. The first time installing takes awhile but once ya do it the first time, it’s super easy to repeat. And like someone else said, you can put all kinds of stuff on top, or use it as a mobile stage to sit lawn chairs on to watch events or slap a tent on top when ya camp. Possibilities are endless. Lastly and most importantly, it looks bad to the bone. Totally worth the money.
