Have there been many times when you thought you would've been just as happy with an SE? I'm on the fence still, all I see myself putting up there is a modified bed rack with a tent and some other goodies

I was between the HD and the SD and Decided for the HD for the less limitations in the future

I guess when I think about it, it's like a 25% higher price for 400% more rated capacity and 300% more tie-downs. Seems like it would be an easy choice but it's not because they're both so damn expensive. I'm sure I'll end up going the HD route just to be safe, but if someone can convince me to save $400 I'll do it

My dudes, we are at 20 items tentatively! I'm guessing the RealTruck guys are enjoying some holiday time, but maybe when they get back we'll be able to get orders in and bed covers and trays going on the assembly line! Super pumped! Thanks to everyone that's in on this, and happy holidays!

The extra tie downs are super useful

The extra tie-downs alone would be $100 to add to the SE, so technically the HD is only $300 more :rimshot:

Something that I was thinking about when going for the HD is that I can haul on top of the cover and not only have to use the bed. 400 lbs adds up quick with a bunch of lumber or other stuff. The peace of mind was worth it for me. I’ll save $ in other areas but for me I was going for the big dog version that I knew would cover me in all situations.

I copied some images off their website pertaining to their Tacoma SE and HD bed covers so people can see the difference quickly with what is offered:

I can't convince you but I can point out some differences. I'm sure when you first started looking at bed covers as most of us have, you looked at multiple ones. Ones like the OEM one, backflip, and others in that same range which have absolutely 0 capabilities of hauling anything on top. Just basically makes your bed a trunk. Now, like me and others, after looking around no doubt you stumbled upon the Diamondback cover and a few more options opened up. So now the SE does everything all the standard covers plus much more. Now you can haul stuff on top of it, a TV, a dishwasher a refrigerator or 2 very fat people. So I'm sure at this point the reasonable part of your brain (also mine) thinks: "That's it, the search is over, done!". But then since you're already there why not click on the HD version and just see what's different, no harm done....nope nope nope. So now, it doesn't really outperform the SE version by such a huge margin as the SE does all the other "standard covers" but it does do a few things better, also, there is nothing better than the HD, it's the holy grail and the end all be all to bed covers. So at this point your brain thinks: "No way in hell am i going to have 4 refrigerators strapped to the back, no way am I going to have 12 dishwashers on it either, or 20 tv's or 8 very fat people (5 if they're Americans). But it would be nice to be able too............:D:D:D:rolleyes:.

So everybody posted the upsides to the HD vs the SE. I'll go the other way since nobody else will:

It weighs less, up to 50lbs which does mean something for your gas mileage. Not drastically on one tank, but over the life of the vehicle it will add up. Of course if you care about that type of thing.
Tax wont be much of a discussion, worst case it will add 40 or 50 bucks to the final price, that's like one tank of gas....again depends where you live.
You can take the extra money you're not spending on the HD and get some accessories and expand the capability of the bed more. Or anywhere else in your truck if you're looking to make upgrades.

    I think that's about it I suppose.

Please send me some details for this. This is perfect timing and I’m glad I stumbled across this thread. Looking to get an HD in LineX with some accessories.
