Love my SE, for storage, I just got one of those ratchet cross bars to hold 3 milk crates against the cab side, put all my gear in there. Easy to remove and pretty inexpensive.

I know this is an older post, but would you mind explaining how you used this to plug the hole? DB makes it seem like you can use the supplied RTV, but that cavity in the bed is much larger than they think and it's hard to fill such an open gap with RTV because it likes to fall down due to gravity. I filled most of the gap last night and could not see any light shine through, but I'd like to use this stuff you linked.

Did you install it from inside the bed or outside?

This stuff (ie https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007VXJM58?ie=UTF8) feels like a fairly dry, rubbery (but still malleable/shapable) putty in your hands. I just pulled off bits and gradually filled in where I could, letting it dry (it dries to be very hard) and then filled in some more. It took a little while. Make sure the stuff from the original package is well sealed in a ziploc bag or something like that in between applications. I could send you a pick but it will look like one giant, continuous seam of this stuff but the truth is that is the result of a series of applications.

How flexible is it when it dries? I’m concerned with the bed flexing that it would crack or become detached. Thanks.

Its pretty stiff. I have Total Chaos bed stiffeners in so that probably reduces flex even on the cab end of the bed. But I havent had a problem with it becoming detached. I think it is actually technically considered a glue. If there is a crack I havent noticed. But if it did happen I would just patch up with more of this stuff.

What I recommend is you get a pack and play with it a little not on your truck just to get a sense of it and whether you want to use it. But it worked for me.

Btw OP, I’d surf the outlet on their website for a while before you buy. I ended up getting an HD last year for $350 off because the logo on the back plate was “undercoated” (I can’t see a difference and it makes no functional difference). Still covered by lifetime warranty.

I felt like the sides of the bed wouldn’t support the weight that the HD would hold so I got the SE. I bought the deep bin but took it out because it didn’t support the tools I put in it and it took too much room from my short bed. Get the extra tie downs, (8) it is not that much more and they will come in handy.

I am toying around with buying the back window protector. It just gives a good place to tie coolers and larger items against that are too tall for the closed lid.

very happy with mine. No complaints. It does not make your bed water proof only water resistant. Any thing I want to keep dry I put it in my Plano Box. I feel it is as secure as the cab. Anyone with time and tools can get in but that is true with anything.

I second their outlet store. Got my HD for a good deal! I opted for the slightly thicker aluminum panels and additional welded C channels. Just wanted more beef for the dynamic loads when fully kitted offroad. Less stress on panels and better distribution for the rails/mounts with the thicker material. “Hopefully” my choice lasts longer lol. But any of these covers will likely outlast the truck..

I have had a fair amount of weight on my HD and it was fine.

The big thing is install bed stiffeners.
