I know it’s been discussed in here, but based on my searches I really feel like I’m not getting a clear answer. I’ve got an opportunity to purchase a used line x Diamondback SE cover for $800. I’m new to the taco scene coming from a JKU with a Gobi rack. I have shittybilt roof top tent currently and have a factory tonneau which I can sell to the right buyer. Am I crazy to pass this deal up being that my plans are to mount the RTT to front runner bars on the diamondback or should I save my money and just get the KB voodoo bars for stock tonneau. The diamond back is pretty sweet but I am not sure if it’s a mistake to get this Vs the HD. There’s no plans to strap an ATV to it and realistically the amount of time the tent will be on the tonneau is only a few months of the year.

so anyone who has thoughts on this I appreciate your input.

    thanks

    Kyle

I’d rather have the diamondback with front runner bars than the stock cover with kB doo doo bars

I’d get the Diamondback. The KB stuff is hella expensive.

I have a Diamondback already and would probably jump on that deal. Haha.l

you can still use the KB Voodoo bars with a Diamondback cover.

I also agree on getting the Diamondback SE. I have one and love it. Will slowly start looking to incorporate adding a RTT.

I have the SE w/ KB Voo Doo bars and the tent you listed. It's a very nice setup and $800 is a great deal (I bought mine used for the same price). I went with the KB Voo Doo bars because I felt like it wasn't a good idea to place a load on the aluminum SE. The bars are rock solid but like others have said I have some rust (mostly around the area where the bars attach to the feet).

I had the tent on a camper shell until recently but found it was too high, cant get in parking garages, hard to get dogs in and out, harder to close tent (I'm short), caught a lot of wind on the highway, etc. Another underrated part of this set up is that the 8" of space between the RTT and the cover. I use it as a shelf while camping, strap firewood up there. Also can put a slim pelican case or two in there if you need extra dry storage.

@Bannerman exactly what I wanted to hear! Going to pick it up Friday now. So you’ve had no issues what so ever with the set up? Any tips or tricks you got for mounting the front runner stuff

I do actually. I’ll message you later this week when I’m front of my laptop. Remind me if I forget, it’ll be worth it.

@MidWestTRDPro hes using front runner tracks and bars I believe. Same ones that last line of defense uses on YouTube. Slick setup for sure
