Well we got our 1st snow since I got the new tires, 6-8" of wet heavy snow. They did very good on everything but ice. I was impressed with how well I got around in 2wd with the snow plow on and no weight in the bed. Sorry didn't get any pictures while I was out yesterday.

Got another 5" of snow yesterday light and fluffy this time. Had my Dynapro ATM's on they worked good on the road, but when I started pushing snow they left something to be desired. I put the Extreme Countries back on and confirmed they are far superior in the deeper snow. I was pushing the new 5" and 5" of the old snow where the Dynapro's started to lack traction and the Extreme's excelled. The Dynapro's pushed the 5" of powder just fine.

How often are you guys rotating these? I've got about 15k on my 255/85R16 and just rotated for the first time a couple of weeks ago, only because they'd started to show signs of wear in the last 1k or so. I'm going to try and rotate every 5k from here forward.

I have had these tires (285/70/r17) for 5 months now and I'm loving them. I haven't gotten stuck once so far. Tread wear is barely noticed but i do rotate every 5000 miles. Great tire that I will buy again!

I got an 2002 like yours, wanting the same size as you.
Seems like a great tire for me, but I'm a little worried about all the complaints about balancing. Pretty disappointing to here.
Really like them for their weight.
How do you like them now? Any issues with balancing? Thanks.

@cbull I have had no balancing issues with them, but I haven't put a lot of miles on them. I ran them most of last winter "traction on and off road was excellent" but pulled them off this summer to finish wearing out another set of tires. I am seriously considering putting them on my F150 too.

So I do not have a Tacoma but wanted to way in as I am running 295 70 R18 DC extreme county on my lifted F-150. Have 20k on them and wearing great. Little hum on the hwy but not bad. I live in Alaska and run mud, dirt, snow, lots of ice, etc and run amazing. Not even half life yet. Running 38-40 psi and rotate every 5k. Slight cracking occurring where lug meets the tire but nothing too concerning yet. Anticipate 45k before retiring them.

I know this is an old thread but I am considering these for my XJ and was hoping someone had an update on snow and wet performance.

Looks like they discontinued these. I tried to order some just now off Quadratec because the website said they were in stock, but they emailed me telling me they are in fact, not in stock.

Apparently Dick Cepek brand has been absorbed by Mickey Thompson so I don't know if they will ever bring this tire back. Bummer. This would have been the perfect tire for the type of wheeling / dailying my truck sees.

Looks pretty close, except the outer tread is a good bit tighter than the DCs

Oh, I wasn’t saying they’re the same tread or anything. They’re just the tire I’m looking at next. Theres a couple people running them on 1st gens that like them.

33/10.5/17 is the size I’m looking at.

    fairly cheap too

If you’re fine with Amazon it looks like you can still get DC’s there, depending on size

yeah, I need to figure out if I want to go that route or not. I will be paying a decent amount more there than Quadratec's posted price of $238 a tire though, which is why I'm hesitant. Might just have to get STT Pros like everybody else... even though I think the tread on the DCs looks better and is a teeny bit tighter in the center section

welp apparently Quadratec only had 4 in stock (I ordered 5) so I just ordered one off Amazon for the same price and the other 4 from Quadratec. Hopefully they all show up now :anonymous:

I still have some life left in my Kbro2s but they're starting to get a little dry rotted. I'll keep running them and store the DCs in the guest bedroom closet lol
