    @Crom

Nick, I dug up the numbers and some discussion snippets from my conversation with Micah, and I slightly misquoted him:

Me: How do your King Dakars compare? Can you please provide numbers?
KING Performance Series 2.5” Dakar Springs (pair) 25001-121-Dakar

Micah: with the modification we make to the OE rear shock, it gives you the following measurements which have seemed to work with every ones Dakar set up for years.
    ext 25.29/ col 16.83
    [that's 8.46 travel, and for comparison, Crom's Bilstein RCD/BE5-B110-T5 numbers: 27.28/16.34, 10.94 travel]

Me: So rears are made into "extended travel" by adding shaft extenders, is my understanding. Correct? Can the 2nd gen Tacoma 25001-121 be extended further than he 25001-121-Dakar? I'm looking for another inch than your Dakar mod.

Micah: "extended travel" is removing a internal shaft spacer, giving about 1/4-3/8ish inch depending on the application.
if you want, the spacer can be removed, we can install a short seal cap (another 1/4") and then do the Dakar mod.. should give you around 1.5-2" over the stock measurement of ext 24.29/ col 15.83.

The issue with removing the internal shaft spacer is that doing so increases the chance for shaft deflection and damage, so it is best to avoid doing this if possible. But as you can see from the discussion, there are lots of little ways they can configure various components to tweak the numbers.

In the end, I went back to the drawing board and came up with these numbers to request for a custom build:
    17/28, 11 travel. I included a .5 safety margin on comp.

King is currently looking into how close they can come to these numbers. Still waiting on a final answer.

Don't forget, You helped me immensely with the wheel ornament restoration project. Still holding up great! And it turns out, someone else benefited from your post in my thread too. @ETAV8R

    Two things,

    1. I saw you were asking a question in another thread related to bushings. The CS047R Dakar pack uses 40mm diameter bushings, both ends, I pulled that right off ARB Dakar product specs. I recommend t , because of the graphite which help lube. They are very nice and what I'm running in mine.

    2. Can you measure center eye to center eye of the Dakar main spring? I'm under the impression, yours is not mounted yet. :)

    Thanks!

Shit dude, NOTHING is mounted yet. He is still in the tracking packages/storing on an under structurally sound shelving unit. We understand that he has diaper duty and monitary allocation services to perform for his family prioritized first though.

I do like the sound of the graphite bushings though, nice info. He will probably get to the bushing mod sometime in 2025/26. :notsure:

I for one am seriously looking forward to the day that an actual build/write up is done on this truck. That is the day that TW should shut down in remembrance of all the hard work, logic, calculations, and bullshit that this build has provided. TW will no longer be needed for anything other than pics of inferior trucks, including my own. Now where in the fuck did I put my beer?

Yeah, I've been considering those bushings, too.

I will try to get a measurement for you tonight. I got a stomach bug and have been laid up for a couple days. Sick kid, sick dad, plus an overworked, stressed out mom with a big birthday tomorrow are not a great combo.

So what are you up to, mister? You have lots of questions for someone who seems to have his suspension happily dialed in.

Also, just got word back from Micah regarding the Kings. Best they can do is 17/27, not 28, unfortunately (once it is put together, I imagine there may be some minor decimals + or - involved). But that is still 1.71 inches more extension than DSM's 25001-Dakar mod provides. You may find this useful:
