I actually did try the foil trick once, but found it time-consuming and ineffective.

I think this is more fitting for this "build"....

So this is apparently not sufficient. In a strong crosswind the other other day, the noise appeared again, although I think a bit quieter. Today I dropped by the local dealer to schedule the TSB seals before the 36k/3yr limit arrives.

So. You know, just a standard PM day. Plugs, oil, and such. Go to take out the air intake.

WITAF is this shit. You can tell this was a late model add-on because the beloved secondary air injection pump engineer has clearly never removed the air intake to change the spark plugs on a 1GRFE.

Exhibit 1, and this is after I removed the wiring harness that completely obstructs the view and access from above. The gear wrench on the intake bolt is hard up against the bottom of the bracket, and the bolt is nowhere near out. Because that bolt is about 6 feet long, which is perfect for holding the massive, dense, heavy intake tube under high G loading at the mall.

Look at this douchery. Twice as long as necessary to hold the air-filled intake tube down, regardless of the stupid fucking air pump bracket design.

Pull the entire SAIP-POFS assembly out of the truck, remove the pump from the bracket (just pop off the 3 rubber isolation pads using a screwdriver blade), and stick the bracket in the vise so you can beat the shit out of that wiring harness tab with a BFH. I apologize for the blurred image, but I was so enraged, I was shaking like a 5D-powered dildo on max.

Bend that fucker back past 90 degrees so it clears the lower body of the SAIP-POS.

OK that cleared things up a bit. Note the unprotected portion of the harness, and that is is all forward fo the bracket leg. Unsat.

Cut back the electrical tape on the factory loom that stops the harness from bending back behind the bracket leg. Wrap some 3M Super 33 electrical tape around the exposed wires, then slap some split loom over the whole thing to help stop it from getting trashed when REMOVING THE THE FUCKING AIR INTAKE ROUTINE PM.

The loom is tight and has a strong bend in it, so avoid deforming it too much or you could work the small wires too much, with possible failure. Last thing you need now on your SAIP-POS. Working with the established kinks, I test-routed it gently.

This seemed like the least-stressed configuration that woudl not interfere with the mounting tab on THE FUCKING AIR INTAKE THAT YOU NEED TO REMOVE FOR ROUTINE PM. TOYOTA.

All put back together, the head of the new shorter bolt is clearly visible and possible to extract from above using a socket and ratchet. You fucking SAIP-POS needy little bitch.

Like there is even a 3rd gen owner alive who knows what a BFH is. Or a vise.

Yeah that bracket is something else. Quoting my build thread the lazy judo approach is to quickly remove the three bracket bolts which are east to access, nudge the bracket with the wire harness still attached to one side and gain easy access to the air intake bolt from above:

I do like your more permanent rage based solution. Came out even better than your E-Tune mod!

My permanent solution is going to be putting iridium plugs in so I never have to remove the intake again...
