I will not, however, be procuring all the add-ons made available by the fine, and well-intended, people at Lund.

Bits and pieces, bits and pieces. I really want to get on with the lift. I need to do a bit more home work on Kings and Expos. And I wish the damn OME PB-51s would come out already. And I need to do a little more mod/weight future projection related to lift. Trying to keep it light, and likely will include sliders and aluminum skids, but that is about it. My greatest concern it this long pig is getting high-centered.

But I fear my next trick will be to unfuck my wife's Jetta's broken glove box door (this is a thing apparently) to get some tax docs out of it and to, well, unfuck it. So when we sell the thing, there is one less broken thing on it for some poor misguided fucker to notice. POS.

Hey Scott have you done research on the next car seat?

Isabella is getting to be too long for her current seat and I am really needing one that she can upgrade into that maybe takes up less real estate in the backseat.

My wife does. I've been in the process of getting her to sell it for the past 5 years. Every time I look at that car, something breaks on it and derails my entire fucking day.

Now, it is a serious liability. With a bambino, it is simply not reliable enough, and there is a weird random fuel cutoff issue under 1/8 tank. Time to cut losses. I asked her what she wants and said we'll get it. Anything to get out of the Jetta. Just need time to go test drive and force, I mean encourage, her to be pragmatic about not just buying what she things she wants, but doing some serious test driving of it and the competition, too, and playgin with car seats and bags and crap that is our lives now.

Luckily, she drives a manual, and want to continue to do so...

I still have my 2002 VW GTI and surprisingly enough, it still functions well after 160k miles. My wife had a 2001 VW Beatle and the thing was a mess. I hated it more than just about any car I have ever driven. It also had the same issue with the random fuel cutoff under 1/8 tank. Something to do with how the fuel pump sat in the tank during turns, braking, acceleration....basically driving.

She then had an Acura TL that was totaled, but it was a decent car. Now she has a new Mazda CX-5 and I have to say that it is actually really nice. If your wife likes the size of the Jetta, she might like the Mazda 3. For the amount of money you spend (less than a VW) you actually get a lot of car.

Kudos for the wife driving a stick.

Well she doesn't drive it like an enthusiast, but she drives it. She drives a little behind the curve, I drive in front of the curve. And I just try to bite my lip a lot and look out the window at the flowers when I sit in the right seat.

So the fuel thing is weird. We are at about 120k miles on it, I think. When I was very young, I had a hand-me-down Dasher (POS) and drove it into the fucking ground. It had the same fuel cutoff issue at low tank on bends. The thing is, I could very methodically recreated that condition. It was like a low fuel light. Just take the corners easier until fill up. Hers, on the other hand, no. Straight line, highway, turn, city streets, all speeds. You cannot recreate it. It's just random. That is scary and dangerous if it shits the bed when they are in the fast lane on the interstate. Plus the very good VW shop we take it to is stymied too. They are headed to pull the fuel ump to continue trouble shooting. I say stop the bleeding on repairs and ditch it. It is basically a bunch of gremlins held together by blue paint.

She is fixated on the Subaru Crosstrek. She does want a smaller car (I think she has some spatial awareness issues and want the extra buffer). But I think it may be too small overall for current needs. But alas, it is very well suited to both urban and outdoor environments. I say it won't have enough room for kid crap. She counters with "that when we take the truck." Fuck. I mean, I do essentially have a moving van.

Baseline Blackstone report came in from first oil change (break-in). I'll probably take another sample at 15k miles.

We didn't find anything alarming here. High wear and silicon are both common finds in oil samples
from new engines. The wear is high due to break-in of new parts, while silicon is from sealers and
sand-casted parts. Universal averages show typical wear metals for an oil from Toyota's 4.0L (1GR-FE)
engine after about 5,700 miles use on the oil. We expect your engine will look that good or better in two or
three more oil changes. The low viscosity wasn't due to any excess fuel and isn't a problem either. Low
insolubles show good oil filtration. Try up to 6,000 miles next oil.

    Crosstrek is tiny.

We're getting an Outback, which is significantly larger.

Yeah, again, you are a big fucker.

I think an Outback is the way to go. She has "station wagon" issues. I say, but Luvy, it's an Estate.

Shore. Just trying to envision loading up a Crosstrek for a weekend trip to Tahoe and associated baby needs alone would make it filled to the brim without much trouble.

My stroller would take up all of the rear cargo area, methinks.
