Just that scenary is a trip down memory lane.

    1. Woohoo, alerts functional
    2. The data plate, and the landing gear, and the inner wings, and the tubular fuselage frame. Lots of various pumps and shit.

Mind you, when we got it, it was already butchered.

    1. Cowling was fucked
    2. Tail was fucked (they had managed to remove the airfoil shape). Skip Holm did the first test flight after we first got it running, because he was the only previous pilot in the type, which was experimental. He said he had no rudder command. This is not a desirable feature.
    3. Landing gear was fucked.
    4. Canopy was a piece of shit, no vis and claustrophobic.
    5. Radio were shit.

The previous owner ran alcohol in it and burned half his crew.

It had landed gear up, so we bought that. But we got a great price!

No. I still haven't had a ride in it. Because life, kiddo, dad's passing, moving, work blah blah blah.

So what is in the works is me getting a fucking ride in it. It's painted now, he took my advice to paint the spinner blue.

Here is a shot that gives you an idea of how much of the fuselage was original. The engine mount is not (because different engine from stock Bristol Centaurus).
It was originally 2-seat, The Levelor team made it single seat from the rear cockpit and faired in the forward fuselage to blend into an old cowling from a bomber that could surround a Wright 3350. That cowling was asymmetrical because on twin-engine on bombers they usually are. It was a POS, the carb intake sucked, and the exhaust pipes and exit from the accessory section were garbage. We redid all that with a DC-7 cowling like Rare Bear, and we were fortunate to have David Cornell and Larry Klassen redesign and re-duct that whole system to increase cooling efficiency and do some trickery to the exhaust tips to actually create some additional thrust.

    Yes. I'm an idiot.

Thanks. He passed in 2019, when we were in escrow for the new house. He had a good life and was a kind man. I was lucky.

Thats a fact, just not for getting the new place back then though. You got a sweet spot, plus you did it for the new delinquent you are raising.

    Thread still sucks though.
