    A. :goingcrazy:

    B. Yeah, my plan is to pull an overload, install 3*shims, and install AAL. Basically, a Crom Mod.
    1. Vibe protection (the more difficult to do, so do it now and leave U-bolts alone).
    2. A little more droop and flex, I think.
    3. Retain good load capacity when maxed out and towing.

Ahhhhhh that rings a bell. Was reading through his build thread, he's extremely thorough. It's like a build bible.

Yeah, he's been working with a lot of other guys in Socal who are pretty experienced, too. We're both of the think it through and educate yourself camp, not buy what's popular and show up at the high school camp.

Since I am figuring our 2nd gens from square one, and Crom's kids are older and he's been getting out more (and with them), I've been following his educated lead as I tried to get my head around the options and issues unique to 2nd gen.

I was relying heavily on his shock measurements as a starting point because he figured out the available droop issue with Dakars, but he went with Bilsteins, which I don't care for. But I'll be using the same U-bolt flips and bumps. In the end, my numbers for Kings needed to include the lower of the top two bushings, wheras the Bilsteins apparently do not include it. I triple-checked this with Nick, and @jberry813 (who posted the potential discrepancy during closed-session discussion), and with Micah at DSM, because there is no way in hell I am going to spend this much on suspension and fuck it up on a DD. With the Wheeler's bumpstops, I can always shim in fractions of an inch, too, if necessary, but hope to avoid that based on doing thorough homework so I don't lose compression.

I'm begin especially...uh...anal...because without a rear locker, daddy needs droop, yo.

    .. say wha?!

I gotta ask.. what's the point in spending the extra cheddar to go black (as they say..) and still have the blue coils?

I apologize for derailing this shit show into discussion about your actual build, but your homework interests me. So you started with the generic EXT rear shocks, and you're having them custom built to include the length of the lower shock tower bushing? Is there a reason you didn't go with extended rod ends? I'm still learning, so if I'm horribly off track here feel free to give me a theoretical slap across my face.

I'm currently looking at bumpstop set-ups right now. After totaling our other vehicle, I haven't been able to get the truck out and see what will need tweaking, and what is working correctly. After working on Chris' suspension this weekend, I'd like to feel comfortable that my shocks will not bottom out before they hit the stock bumps that are currently still on there. Since I'm out sick today, maybe I'll go have a gander.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Extended rod ends create two failure points vs. one. And when you extend a rod (giggity), you gain distance one direction but lose it in the other (this is where good bump stops come in play).

It will be OK. I am not going to change to a different coil just for aesthetics. Remain calm...everyone remain calm...
OMG someone is paying attention! Who's a good boy?!?!?!
I sense another thread title change...
    1. LOL.
    2. I hope we are all learning all the time and don't feel ourselves so special that we think we aren't a still ignorant in some way. Too bad you're a fucking moron.
    3. Too busy at work right now, but what Ben said is exactly right VVVVV
I can manage the compression stop, but not so much extension. Counting on the leaf spring bottom range of motion to stop extension before damage, and if I am in a situation of that extreme articulation anyway, I'm going to be crawling cautiously over some obstacle.

    Just hit Paypal send....

    Calm.

Just curious.. I could've sworn I'd seen black coil Kings (with King coils..) earlier this year, somewhere. I'd have thought for the skrilla that black was black was black, not black and blue, that's all.

Well you even made me just freak out a little bit and triple check. Not on the King site, and I just called DSM for a reality check, and they said no, not an option through King, I'd have to do it myself.
    So.
    Fuck that.

    Word.

On a side note, is it just powder coating?

I don't want to say you should do those gray coils.

But you should do those gray coils.
