    i think that's a very gray area.

they're a dealer, not a factory outlet store.

dealers are independently managed, meaning they get to make decisions on what parts to inventory. and depending on the regional market, they absolutely could be stocking Doorman parts at a discount and reduced warranty time table...

I second this! My compressor is mounted inside the driver’s side cubby and is handier than sh_t. My passenger side cubby holds an auxiliary fuse box and a 700w pure sine wave inverter, and I mounted a 12v plug panel with a USB outlet on the door in addition to a 120v AC outlet. The only issue- and I’m sorta working on a screen for it, is venting the cubby while the inverter is working, so for now I open the door a bit using a hook to keep it supported.

But I digress, so yeah, OP got jipped by the dealer and either should return it or get a partial refund for the Amazon price difference as his product got switched without prior approval…

I was trying to not consider a higher capacity compressor than my Viair 300p. That would be a good spot though, esp as there is no under-hood space in the Sports. Of course, thoughts of a converted A/C compressor are always there. I do get embarrassed by friends with twin ARBs. Of course, we were only in any sort of rush about one time.

The right side stores the straps and cords for the fridge.

    Overall, pretty handy.

That Viair is a great compressor, I have one also. But I liked having a portable one so keep it for that, and went the cheap route and installed a HF compressor in the cubby- I typically don’t air down my tires so didn’t ‘need’ a double the cost high volume compressor either.

I just used my built in one this weekend when I accidentally came across- through actually- a motocross rally with 300 or so offroad motorcycle participants. One of them had a flat and used up all his CO2 cartridges, so I pulled out the hose from the built-in one and filled him up. I didn’t know there was going to be a rally through where I was camping the night before- that made for a fun morning moment but it worked out.

Unfortunately, it looks like Expedition Essentials, and the other retailers selling their mount, are all sold out of that cubby compressor mount. I wonder if they are still producing (importing) them.

I don't mind getting called soft, but the first stretch of washboard, I'm pulling air out. Haha!

I don't doubt this one bit...
I see a border ridge surrounding the perimeter of OP's mat that is identical to the one on the Toyota mat, which someone said above the OP's looked like their Dee-Zee mat... Seems like it could be a safe bet to assume Dee-Zee was the MFGR of the Toyota mats, and so OP got a Dee-Zee instead because the Toyota-branded ones have not been made for a couple years now.

I'd be curious if there are any manufacturer codes printed/embossed on the backside of the mat that could be even more telling of this...

I like the cubby’s also, remember they aren’t totally dry. I mounted a waterproof switch for bed lighting(installed) and have extra capacity. It was 10guage from a fused connection to the battery. When I ran the pop n loc

So to defend my comments, do you think he would have ordered out of his area or do you think he saw it less expensive and ASSuMEd it was oem from a dealer.

    I think it's a DeeZee too.
They are a great mat though.

I would say that sealing them up is worth it. There used to be a person selling 3D printed parts and such, but pretty easy to do with some sealant. You just need to give clearance for the tabs and cam lock.

This is splitting a lot of semantics hairs, and besides everyone knows what the OP means by an OEM bed mat.

There are an awful lot of accessories and parts on the vehicle itself that weren’t manufactured by Toyota. These are all made by first tier suppliers to a particular Toyota specification. When someone says, “OEM oil filter” or “OEM spark plug” almost everyone knows neither product is actually made by Toyota. People use “Toyota part number” and “OEM part” interchangeably and everyone understands the meaning.

In fact I’m willing to bet the majority of parts that make up a Tacoma weren’t manufactured by Toyota.

    $200!

I got mine on eBay for under $70 several years back. Someone ordered a short bed version by mistake for their long bed Tacoma. They had to pay to ship it back and the Toyota dealer was selling it as used. It was brand new.

There are no codes are part numbers anywhere on the mat.

Very good point about the cubbies, they can be sealed though, I did it also.

Exactly. I was expecting to get what everyone knows as the Toyota one, the one that says Tacoma. And I did not.

Of course, Toyota does not actually manufacture much of what they sell accessory wise. But they do sell official "OEM" licensed accessories regardless of who actually makes them. In this case, the 3rd Gen OEM bed mat is very distinctive and easy to spot with the big "Tacoma" letters on it. What the OP received is not the OEM mat.

Check this out- he just modded the existing cubby with exterior hinges and sealed the old door tab holes, and a recessed panel for his switches and accessory plugs: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/cheap-mods-you-are-proud-of.786170/page-49#post-29893777

I think I paid about $109 nine years ago which was the dealer list price. I always price shop before I buy anything on Amazon.
