Did anyone in the East see the huge meteor?

I have a gopro that I planned having in my truck, but haven't gotten to putting it in my truck and of course I miss this.

 

Don't think this was it since this was 3 hours before, but that one is big too.

didn't see this one, but I saw one a couple months back going to work, it was awesome it lit everything up in a green hue.

The color is usually determined by the composition of the meteor. Different elements burn at different colors, so as it enters the atmosphere and begins to burn up, it will give off the color or colors of the most prevalent elements in the meteor.

They usually do.

Impacts are not too uncommon, but they normally don't impact with any more force than simple terminal velocity. Most of the energy is taken up in the atmosphere, and what's left that hits the ground is just small fragments left over from the breakup.

One of my textbooks in middle school had a photo of a woman who was hit by a meteorite that came through the roof of her home and hit her while she was sleeping. She had a football-sized bruise on her belly.

An impact that leaves a crater is extremely rare. The damage and injuries on the ground in Russia were from the energy released by the airburst... which happened at 75,000 feet... over 14 miles high!

By comparison, the Tunguska event in 1908 exploded around 3-6 miles up and flattened a huge area of forest.

Just a little thing to add. That video was in Indiana, 2 states away from me and it was at the WH OH border where it flew over. That thing was way brighter here. I couldn't imagine how bright it was right below it.
