I just won a 2008 TRD Offroad 4.0l 6spd manual 4wd access cab at auction for $8k. Clean title, 229k miles, 6” lift, new BFG muds, and NO RUST. Not a spec of it. The other Tacomas I looked at all need frame replacements and were bone stock for $10-15k.

What do you think? Good deal? The paint is pretty oxidized on the roof/hood from being parked outside, the driver seat is torn, and it has a silly k&n hot air intake but otherwise looks good. No codes, runs fine.

    You probably did ok.
The 6” lift has me on edge.
Mast are drop bracket. And a lot of the drop bracket lifts are mediocre.

It’s a diff drop lift. Aside from ground clearance issues, why do people hate them so much? Do they cause front driveshaft vibes? I can fab a steel skid for the front, not too worried there. I figured I can sell the lift if I need to and go with a smaller one.

This is the cheapest I’ve seen a rust-free 2nd gen by probably 5k out here. Are they priced more reasonably in your area?

No, that truck would be selling (asking) for $10k-$12k
You are going to need weld in the missing section of cross member to get ride of the lift.
I don’t like drop brackets for that reason, you have to cut the cross member.
It’s more personally preference, but once you install it, it’s not easy to go back.

drop bracket lifts = cutting out of the rear front cross member.

Make the best of it! 35" tires should fit with little effort, and you already have beefed up spindle and LCA pivots from the drop bracket lift. Just watch for off-camber sections so you don't roll the truck.

It doesn’t matter what anyone thinks. You bought what you wanted. Congratulations and enjoy your truck.
