Hey guys i just installed a pro comp 3" lift and notices my right passenger side shock bushing on top is shifting. Noticed it chirping when going over bumps so it's making contact somehow with the shock shaft. Other side is fine. What could be causing this? The tops plates are new as well.

I don't have experience with procomp but that definitely does not look right. With that much thread exposed, that bushing should be squished. Did you remember to add the bushing to the underside as well?

Hate to break it to you but you need to re-do it over. The shocks you replaced should have the bushings or whomever you bought the shocks from shorted you two bushings. The shock mount should be sandwiched with the bushings. Should be (from the top) lock nut, washer, bushing, shock mount, bushing, washer.

If nothing is bent it's probably OK. Check everything thoroughly though before you reinstall.

What he said above...so on the underside, theres supposed to be a welded washer/ring on the shock shaft, then a bigger washer goes in top of that and there should be another thick rubber washer attached to the underside of the top hat. Sounds like you forgot a washer on the underside and possibly the rubber washer....i ran into the same thing when a shop put mine together.

Also, i wasnt aware the shafts were that much threaded down lol, definitely looks like theres nothing underneath...so youre basically riding around with just coils and your shocks arent dampening anything lol

You should be fine...but nothing is stopping your shaft from coming through the top hat, so take them off and apart and make sure theres no damage to the coil/shock towers and make sure theres no burring on the shaft at all.

You're welcome. I doubt anything is messed up as it would just be loose. The shock rod should actually have a stop for the washer to sit on.

See below how the rod has a stop for the washer to sit on? This should stop the shock rod from actually going through the top hat (the plate that has 3 screws).

This is best pic I can get if the underside. See the top plate looks like there was a bushing in it. I don't see how the bushing and washer will sit in there. doesn't seem like enough room

You ordered top plates from the dealer when you did the swap?

The pro comp 3" kit only comes with struts and springs...

Looks like you need to compress the coil springs again and rotate the top plate.

I can tell you already, there is a washer/notch whatever on the shaft that you should have a large washer like on the top on, and that prevents the shaft from moving on the top hat. Same thing happened to me. Except i got mine back with no top washer or bushing. You need to rebuild those with rubber bushing sammiched between washers

I don't like spring compressors with these trucks either. I use the jack methods more than 6 times now for these trucks. Just make sure you mark your cam bolts and loosen so the LCA drops far enough.

Got the bottom bushings in. Had to cut the top bushings in half cause The shock shaft wouldn't push up far enough through the top plate . Passenger side looks like I'll have to replace the top plate again cause it looks like the shaft was walking around in there to much. What do you think guys should I be good for a while ?
