You said there was a couple of drops on the air filter but it was mostly dry. I'd say you're fine. If the air filter was soaked I'd be a bit more concerned. But the fact that you didn't hydrolock tells me you're fine. Even if a touch of water got past that air filter, based on what you said, it would already be out of your engine by now and, hopefully, took a bit of carbon buildup with it. :)

Just to clarify, you drove through a pretty deep puddle and thought, "shit, I should get this on video." You made a second pass with the camera on and that's when you realized that the second didn't quite look like the first, "perhaps I better run this by the crew at TW and see what they think."

Is that about the size of if?

I can't attest to that but I do know one benefit (if you can call it that) of a head gasket leak is that cylinder is very clean!

to be fair the 1st pass didn't seem too deep at all as it started from the shallow end and i went slower. 2nd pass going opposite direction started from the deeper end and it was at the bottom of a hill, hence dead-end

and to further clarify my case in point, i did not think the puddle was going to be so deep and my 2nd pass was to get out of there and go home because im not going to ride out a storm in a parking lot because of a puddle that i already drove thru.

Good on you for having a little fun with your ride! These trucks are not made from paper mache, but you might want to slow it down a bit more the next time you decide to go puddle plowing.

I don't know why Toyota didn't make the Desert Air Intake standard on all TRD Off Road trucks?

The DAI might not of helped in this situation, but it sure wouldn't have made things any worse.
