Did I get a free upgrade on my battery?

I took my truck in for its 20k today. When I got back they said the oem battery tested bad. They replaced it with a toyota house brand 84 month. I cant remember what the other one said on the case but dont remember 84 months. I was planning on upgrading before next year but if this is this a free upgrade in quality that would be sweet.

 

That battery is made for Toyota by Interstate Batteries. It's just a regular lead/acid battery.

 

The local interstate guy told me they have stickers for every car brand in their warehouse.

It's not an upgrade from stock but at the same time Toyota specs a good battery from Interstate so it's not nothing. You got a fine quality battery for free.

 

Nope, not an upgrade. The physical difference between the 84-mo TrueStart and the 60-mo True2 is the sticker. Both made by Johnson Controls and are sold under Interstate brand before rebranded as Toyota batteries.

 

Most likely the new stocking battery so it was installed

what ever you got , you got an 84 month warranty. Pretty hard to beat that. I don’t know it that 100% replacement within 84 months or if it’s pro rated. In any event 84 months of some kind of warranty is damn good.
