I guess this is ideal given her "situation" and a better/smarted better deal than many leases but not for long run imo lol.

$300 a month for 10 years is enough for a 36k vehicle, say a Brand new TRD OR Tacoma, which could probably be sold for $15-18k or more after 10 years, thus yielding back at least 50% of the money put down initially.

Hope she is not making you finance this "bad habits" as you put it lol

Its $10,800 ($10.16 per day) for the use of a $37,000 car over 3 years. Also no maintenance. $0 for synthetic oil changes , tires, brakes, etc.
My truck payment is $390 a month and I just bought new tires, I need a alignment, brakes are 1/2 way shot , shocks are ok, need spark plugs in another 6 months - 1yr, gonna radiator flush and a ton of shit.. my truck is 2 yrs old.

Ha I spent more on lunch the other day in Chicago .....
    Beef sandwich
    Fry
    drink
    $12.80

    Did I mention it’s a Jeep Cherokee?
Yeah it lost value taking it for a test drive. My wife has a new vehicle every 3 years and I have peace of mind knowing she will not break down. If she does it’s covered . She is happy, I’m happy

I see people spend $699 on a truck a month and rent a apartment. Lol
Usually they (husband/wife) have 2 cars and if they are new@$40k each $699 per car=$1400 (per month)for 2 cars ... hmmmm
Smoke and mirrors buddy, smoke and mirrors.

14 more yrs on my mortgage loan and this guy gets a new Tacoma!

That's cool and all but it doesn't really invalidate anything I said.

My point was, after roughly 10 years or a little over 3 leases, you will have paid the same as buying the vehicle and have nothing to show for it.

Buying a Tacoma for example, you would spend about the same and you would have a vehicle you can use till the wheels fall off or sell it and get back $15,000 and very likely more.

If we go by standard lease mileages, 10-12k and compare it to the cost of maintenance of these Toyotas at 150,000 miles, which is very low, some people literally do only oil changes and some small item here and there. Not gonna change the numbers much.

Not to mention owning your own vehicles you can drive the amount of miles you want, do whatever you want with it etc.

If changing vehicles every 3 years is a must, then so be it but don't be fooled into thinking it's anywhere near a "good deal".

    Smoke and mirrors indeed.

i guess you are not married, have zero kids and pay zero on a mortgage. Everyones situation is different. Yes a lease makes sense on a car you know that’s crap and don’t want to pay the full amount. After the term of the loan it has no value, (Kia, Jeep lattitude, etc) it’s worth a few thousand after 5 years. My wife isn’t buying a Tacoma. She’s not even buying Toyota’s. Tell me what new Tacoma or any other car that I can buy $0 down and $300 per month with no trade in....

    Waiting!!

    Lol

I am not married and do not have kids luckily, and you are wrong about the mortage, care to explain how does this changes anything?

If what you are trying to imply here are the economical constraints of being married and having kids then the obvious solution is to get a vehicle within your means which is $300 a month, or say a 20k car with a 6 year loan, rather than throw money down the drain that you are never getting back.

Everyone's situation is different and everyone is free to do as they please so I am happy that you believe to be getting a deal, just pointing out that on the long run, leasing is very mediocre by vehicle purchasing standards.

I understand your wife is into vehicle's that depreciate rapidly and whatnot so if
you have the money to thrown down the drain and swapping vehicles it's what you want, then leasing isn't so bad.

Although buying a few vehicles(Tacoma, Tundra, Wrangler etc) that hold their value well and can be resold for high prices still puts you ahead.

    No..no..no...
Missed the point . My wife buys “soccer mom mobiles”

After 3 years of driving them they rattle, and are made cheap, Dodge crap. Great, so after spending $39,000 in 6 yrs it’s worrh $4,500

Since ya got a mortgage hope it’s a 12 yr fixed saves ya a point &1/4

Do the math on a 30 yr , 15 yr , or 12 yr mortgage.

I’ll buy 2 new cars once the mortgage is done. Lol. Depending on vehicle , I agree it’s tricky. Dodge minivan was a garbage vehicle that lost value on the test drive? Everyone is different. Also Toyota values on 3rd gens May not be any where close to 1st and 2nd gen. The market shows it.

Thinking about going to a few dealers and Carmax to get a quick appraisal on my 2yr old 3rd gen with 60k miles. Any guess on how much value it lost in 2 yrs?
