Purchase Brand New. MA lemon law is 1 year 15,000 miles.

100%. The look on the tech face after he came out from under the truck, I knew right then and there he did not want to mess with it.

No idea. Needs to be diagnosed in person. Basically impossible for someone to diagnose that noise over a video. It doesn't sound good though. Hope it's something simple.

Call Toyota corporate, say you don't want to drive it since you fear it may die on the road. They need to arrange a tow truck to another dealer and you need a loaner.

The sooner you get a service repair order stating "customer complains of engine noise" the better.

That should be on his initial visit work order.

They did not touch anything, did not even have to open the hood. They just listened under the truck left front drivers side wheel. I am not touching anything, it is all on them. I just want to have a few people to attest to the knock if the dealer tries to say there is no problem or knock.

Oil level is perfect and coolant is in-between the low and full marks. I check my oil, coolant, and brake fluid every weekend and do a basic look over of the vehicle.

The lemon law states that if the defect requires the vehicle to be at the dealership for 15 days in order to be repaired, the dealership must buy the vehicle back. If you reread the post, you’ll see the OP mentioned 15 days out of service time. He didn’t say, I’ve had this vehicle for 15 days.

    And, I can’t help myself…*invoke*

When my engine failed it was at 65k miles and went real quick. It always sounded rough, but just figured it was my taco being my taco… no motor issues prior to the failure. Was a good lil truck hopefully will be again soon.

Good luck, hope you’re able to get it sorted out.

I did not yell. The dealer just does not like people that have knowledge. They were playing dumb like they could not hear the sound, they just did not want to fix it. I mentioned lemon law after they said about a month just to look at what the problem is, that is not to even fix it.

It is for warranty work for a vehicle I purchased from them. I showed up and asked them to listen to the sound because I wanted them to hear the sound. You do know that is allowed right, I could have called road side assist and had it towed to there place that day. It is a safety issue, the engine or trans could seize and someone could get hurt. Dealers always use the we found nothing wrong response. That is why I want them to hear.

When I drop it off, it starts. This is not radio issue, this is a mechanical safety issue. And they cannot give me the vehicle back with some bullshit excuse just have the sound reappear immediately. Now that they acknowledge the sound and I have evidence, they have to show good effort in the repair attempt.

Go listen to the video. Will have 2 more in a few minutes. If a high level tech blows that sound off, he is playing dumb.

Yeah, I have read through your thread. I hope it works out for. Toyota should have good will that for you.

Yes, but they wanted me too take a big hit and all the current cars/trucks that they have are sold and marked up. They want $2000 marked up for all trucks. I was willing to do and even exchange for same spec truck, but not now, they can fixed it in 15 days or refund it. I cannot sell or trade it to no other dealer or person knowing that it has an issue, that would be on my mind for years. I do not care for Dealerships, but someone will end up with it and that is just not right.

Better video on page 2. The sound in person is like 4 plus times louder and getting loud.

Get a piece of PVC pipe and put one end near your ear and the other end where you believe the noise is coming from. You should be able the center in to the loudest spot. Take the PVC pipe with you to the dealer. You will be amazed how loud it is through the pipe. Maybe try posting more audio recorded through the pipe. If a loud noise is coming from the bottom of the engine, it is most likely not injector cleaning. Good luck.
