The first warranty claim actually went pretty good. The tech I spoke to was pretty awesome/cool. It was the service advisor that was all over the place. She even had me mixed up with another Tacoma owner that was having problems.

I wouldn't tip anyone at a dealership either....it would be more of an insult than anything else. Be kind and polite...yes....tip...NO.

If that hot brunette Toyota commercial girl is there, I would definitely give her a tip.

The more and more I hear about this dealer the more confused I am as to why you are insisting on going there. The place sounds mismanaged and toxic, for real dude go to a different one.

Why not? Apparently we can tell over the interwebs when a truck is totaled :anonymous:

I have the 2.7L and no I do not have that knocking noise that you have. As people have suggested...START OVER. Call another dealership and make an appointment. Tell them that you hear a knocking noise from the engine and that it should be checked. That is all you need to do.

Yes. i am not a fan of tipping. Workers should be paid a fair wage and the customer should be billed accordingly.

It is more hit or miss. I think most dealerships do not like people that have knowledge about cars.

I actually like the idea of tipping if its part of the persons income, like a waiter and not just a "bonus". Its a performance based metric, so the better you are at your job the more money you get, the worse less money.

@smta, have you taken any actions (suggested in this thread or not) to resolve your issue?

I understand where you are coming from. I just prefer to see the employee get paid a fair livable wage. I actually tip good, but do not like forced tips.

It’s not going to be the engine
As I read more of your descriptions it will probably end up being something else
If it were a rod or a bearing it would never go away and when the rpm’s raise the sound wold change
We will see but that’s my opinion I think something is loose somewhere or the torque converter is defective on the tranny

Does the tapping or knocking noise get louder or faster when reving get louder? I seriously don't think it's internal but I could be wrong.

Strictly cosmetics (PPF, Ceramic Coat, Cosmoline, Tint). Waiting for it to not be so new to start digging in!
My (unsolicited) .02 is kind of in line with what most here are recommending. I was a service advisor at a Toyota dealer for a couple of years and I prided myself in being as much of an advocate for my customer as well as open and honest as much as possible. That is ultimately why I left the business because most dealers do want pushier and more sales-oriented people in those positions. That all being said, if a customer presented an issue to me in the manner in which you are presenting it here (let alone the most definitely worse attitude you probably had at the dealer at the time of the encounter) I wouldn't be inclined to be super helpful either. They offered you an appointment, you refused. They told you if you didn't want to take the service appointment and weren't satisfied with the vehicle you could sell/trade it, you don't want to (understandably). There's not really a third option on the table at that place of business so if you aren't satisfied by the two options you have been presented, go to another dealer (as has been recommended on here ad nauseum). If you don't like the pizza at Domino's you don't go there and complain they don't cook them like the Hut, you take your happy ass to Pizza Hut. Same rules apply here, if you don't like the service/staff/experience from one dealer go to another one. Literally the only people being "punished" by your refusal to go to another dealer are you and the truck, I can assure you this dealer doesn't care about your opinion if they are treating you this way at this point.

Toyota trucks do not get totaled. They make all kinds of sounds, but they keep going to the owner just gives up :)
