Hi I ordered this taillight off eBay. It’s supposed to be an OEM replacement. After removing the busted taillight this morning I didn’t immediately see where the lead wire shown in pic would plug into. Before mucking about in there (I have my cap light to tie in) can you tell me if this light looks correct?

Your OEM light had to plug into something.

Yeah it's correct. The plug is clipped into the side towards tailgate.

Yes I know it had to plug into something but that plug didn’t look nearly long enough. Probably the shell wiring threw me off

Here’s what OEM looks like. The taillight harness loops around and the Christmas tree on the connector goes in the tab on the taillight.

Yea so the OEM just wrapped wires different. Easy swap.

So why do you have to buy entire assembly and not just housing. That’s what breaks most . The lens on the housing. In my last vehicle could get the housings cheap without any wires and bulbs
