sounds normal for a backwoods work truck.the bigger trucks might last a little longer but the bills are that much bigger at repair time.i have destroyed a couple of trucks by the 150000 km mark.the ones that made 400000 km had a lot of maintenance to get them there.usually have a spare truck on the farm to run during maintenance

Yeah, you pretty much nailed everything about using a vehicle for work. Only thing is I get significantly more than your .35/km. But anyway...... my accountant told me years ago that he would fire me as a client if I try any funny business and try and push the envelope for tax purposes. Everything has to be above board. Which I guess is a good thing!

Are you an accountant? Or just a very knowledgeable small business owner like me?

    * maybe I should rephrase that. I am not knowledgeable on taxes and write offs etc. that's why I have an accountant!

I get straight km rate, tax free. Along with about 150 other people where I work.
Monthly allowance plus a reduced rate per km is taxable. But if you drive a lot straight rate is in your best interest. But then you can't write off vehicle stuff, or depreciation

I just know that I am paid hourly for my truck. What the accountant does after that is unknown to me. All I know is that I pay a lot of taxes!

Not in that upper 1% bracket unfortunately.

No, I'm not an accountant, just a managed forest land owner with a full time job. I used to work in heavy construction and was given an allowance as well, so I learned about the T2200 forms and write offs years ago. I assumed that you got back more than .35/KM, but I merely used that amount as an example.

I do not push the envelope, and as my accountant says, "Do not raise red flags." I merely claim back was is honestly entitled to me, since I'm spending my hard earned money and free time to restore and manage acreage that was raped and neglected/abused for years. I have cleaned up my forest wetland that had construction waste materials dumped everywhere because the previous owner was an ass, an old loyalist settlers dump that I found in the back 40 (no municipal dumps back then), and old abandoned machinery. I have replanted about 500 trees, cleared out invasive species (prickly ash), reopened overgrown trails so that I can get in, taken out nuisance beavers, restored silted in waterways to mitigate seasonal flooding, and created nesting habitat for threatened species such as snakes and Blanding's turtles.

Busy, busy... now back to work! :militarypress:

My Lord! I feel proud of myself when I get a garden planted and dig little trenches in the spring to drain mud puddles. You taczilla are one ambitious dude. And thanks for making the world a better place with all your work you are doing to improve it.

Based on years of going 80k+ on bad dirt roads and many friends in the oil fields I would say yours is having more problems than average. I'm curious about how your ironman lift is holding up? How long has it been installed for? Hope your problems with the vehicle slow down!

I have gardens too, but they are designed to attract and support pollinators.

No need to thank me. I sleep soundly.

Jobs... in addition to my employment.

It keeps me busy and connected to our provider, who has been very good to me... Mother Earth.
