Just got new wheels and tires for my 2008 Tacoma TRD Off Road Stock Frame

    Got BFG All Terrains 265/75/16R

    Wheels are 16x8.5 6-139.70-6

I knew the tires would fit since I had em before but I wasn't sure about the wheels, i had the old set on the old TRD Wheels that came with the truck so wasn't sure what exactly wheel size i needed and made the mistake of placing my faith in the Discount Tire dude who said they'd fit.

They don't fit right, they rub a shit ton.

Now I'm not sure what to do, I went down there and the same guy was like "Can't do anything once the tires mounted on there can't take them back or exchange." I was pissed so I told him I'd come back later.

It rides good but the turning sucks, gotta go gentle, slowly turning so I don't rub so hard.

What can i do and what size wheels should be using for these tires?

take them back and go down a size to 265/70/16 tires, they should give you a certain amount of time to exchange tires if u aren't satisfied no matter what that dude said

What are they rubbing on? Your mud flaps ? People take off the front flaps often

We need to know where you're rubbing. Could just be mudflaps if you have them.

Also a wheel alignment could help, caster around 2

Yeah, That's another thing I was thinking. I called another Discount Store explained the situation with the guy at this store and I gotta go there on Monday and hoping I can just pop off the mud flaps or maybe go down a size like BillsSR5
    said.

    • Tires must not be driven on (used).
    • Wheels must not have been driven on or mounted on the vehicle (used).

That's for returning wheels/tires to their e-store. The store return policy reads different:

That’s way better. Hopefully the other store is better then the one I dealt with. Also gonna check on the alignment at my toyota service center if all else fails.

Appreciate the comments guys, been a while since I posted on here but always loved the site.

Yeah don't freak out, you can drive your truck so the tires are not that big a problem. The aftermarket wheels can make things rub a bit more.
Go out and look for yourself at what the tire is hitting. Its easy to take off your mudflaps, if that's the contact point.

Take the front flaps off, two 10mm bolts on each and takes 2 minutes.

    The tires should fit fine.

What is the offset on the rims?

My guess is you have negative offset.

Frankly 265/75r16 should fit, but your wheels are probably terribly wrong.

    Too few to list.
From what I can tell from your post, you have 16x8.5 -6 offset which makes it out to a 4.5" backspacing which are the correct wheels. 265/75 should fit with minimal rub to mudflaps on full lock IF you're alignment is good. Caster should at least be at +2.2.

Wheels below are the same specs and tires are 265/75R16's. I took the mudflaps off because it just looks cleaner but I did have the mudflaps on when I took it for a 1500 mile trip. 12-15 has the mini front flaps and it rubbed there so I took that off.

First and foremost - thank you for choosing a Discount Tire store, OP. We know there are a lot of options to choose from in the tire and wheel space.

Second, I'm sorry to hear about your experience - policy aside, at the end of the day we are in the people business and if you're not satisfied, we'll do everything we can to make it right.

My recommendation would be to speak with the store manager or the senior assistant manager directly if you decide to swap sizes and I'm confident you'll be taken care of. You could also reach out to the customer service team as well if needed at 1.800.385.3322 or customerrelations@discounttire.com

Circling back to your fitment, I'm surprised you're rubbing so hard because the wheel/tire dimensions are not overly aggressive. As mentioned it could be a simple fix with the mud flaps - adjusting the caster can help as well.

Can you share any photos pointing out where the tires are rubbing?
