OK... time to rip out some kitchen cabinets for the wife to open up the view between the kitchen and dining rooms. Had that planned for Saturday, but that is now Tacoma day. Gotta keep the wife happy :ballchain:

just my 2 cents. Initial customer service is the most important part of a business. once that initial bond is broken even after everything is fixed and well, it sours the experience like someone said earlier. a call or email to explain the situation every day would of eased the OP from stressing out about the product.

Wait, so if I followed this right he thought he got a generic branded leaf, when from production, they all look like that anyways? Not much customer service can do for that, it wouldn't be their fault in the 1st place. That's on the manufacturer am I right?

no I was talking about the delay I believe over a month to receive something that takes less than 10 business days. no calls or follow ups. and when they did they called back in two days to confirm zip code. two days for something so simple that could of been handled that same day. 2 days is an eternity when your order something and pay up front.

that's why I said the initial customer service is the most important part. cause if there's a problem its expected to be fixed. but the full trust in the company is lost. may or may not keep doing business but im sure there will a bit more hesitation next time for the buyer. or maybe not. who knows maybe he just needed to vent out his frustrations.

and to be honest from what ive read wheelers off-road have a great reputation. eventually you're going to have a few incidents here and there. its understandable. no one is perfect glad everything is resolved.

I just wanted to type stuff to kill some time

Yeppers! Initially I was mostly just trying to fact find via the very experienced people here. I thought something was amiss, and came here to see if anyone else had experience with this product. Then I called Icon, and found out about the history of how both Icon's and Wheeler's springs are handled. I called them instead of Wheeler's because at that point I had a pair of springs in my hand stamped "Made in Canada" and I wanted Icon to tell me that theirs was truly made in the USA like their website had on the page for the springs. As soon as they said "Oh no... They are made in Canada" and we discussed the configuration that I received these springs in (no Icon box, instructions, or badging) they offered to call Wheeler's and take care of it. Because of Icon's "Made in the USA" badging on their website, and the Canada stamping on the ones I got along with the Wheeler's U-bolt kit it looked like Wheeler's took their $160 kit and assembled it and tried to pass it off as the Icon $215 kit. That is why I thought I was being hornswaggled. At that time it was unbeknownst to me that these products were identical and made at the same factory and just sold in different configurations from two different places. The Icon kit comes pre-assembled, with "retail" style amenities. The Wheeler's is more of an OEM generic bare-bones "assemble it yourself" style kit. That's all this was about, but holy cow when I came back to the forum here and tried to brush it off... well the torches were already lit hahahahahahaha. So much for a TacoNoob trying to get help to figure something out without getting set on fire :bananadead:

The first round of no calls (about the backorder) was trying... I was just confused and wondering what was taking so long. I was told that it would be one more week. Two weeks later (a week after I was told they would ship out with no calls again) I got an e-mail confirming shipping with expected delivery on a Friday. THEN there was the 2 day delay after shipping confirmation was e-mailed that I got a call asking what my zip code was. Mind you I filled this out myself, so it was on me if it went to the wrong address, but Wheeler's was doing me a solid by confirming it. What they didn't know was that this delay in shipping was really screwing me by now forcing me to have to take vacation time off of work to install these parts instead of doing it in my last free weekend time this summer. Why they wanted to check the zip code is because my zip code covers multiple towns and a different town name came up in their shipping system than what I had on my account. It is understandable to me that they wanted to check and good customer service that they did. The timing just really sucked because this 2 day delay kicked the delivery from the Friday to the next Tuesday. I hope this all clears up any misunderstandings in how things got posted earlier.

Your last comment about eventually there's going to be a few incidents is very true, and that is why I placed another order with Wheeler's (they knocked it out without any issues). When I did talk to them on the phone they had a great "bedside manner" and seemed to really care, which is why I gave them the benefit of the doubt. YotaDan also seems to be a very active face of the business on these forums and really seems to take customer service for this community seriously.

    My 2 cents...

So maybe it would be best for Wheelers to sale the customer the actual Icon boxed AALs with the Icon sticker on them, the Icon Ubolts and the Icon instructions since this is what the customer is paying for. Not doing this and just assembling their own and using their own hardware makes sense from the stand point that they can profit more from the same product, but for liability reasons (assembled wrong or hardware pack not of same quality) maybe its not the best move.

Also one might conclude this is somewhat shady activity, why not just spell out that the Wheelers AALs are really Icons AALs only not assembled, which is why you save some money. From the product description it would appear as if Wheelers is manufacturing these, but as we all found out herein this is not the case. Had folks been aware they are the same they would have likely purchased the Wheelers AALs instead of paying more for Icons.

As I see it this is the biggest issue with all of this, if the product was received as its sold by Icon this thread wouldn't exist.

The whole order sounds like a bit of a sticky wicket.
