Did I make a mistake buying TRD Sport instead of TRD OR?

Locker not needed. Just want to leave this here.... I see this all the time around this area. Spend an hour i 4WD going through the bumps and rocks and dirt getting back to your favorite sport only to find a guy in a 1979 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme is already here. 90% driver, 10% vehicle. This is Moab but it happens a lot back east too.

Thanks, I understand it, but does AutoLSD also put the power onto the wheel that sticks in the mud and stop the spinning wheel which is on the air so that it can dig you out?

Auto lsd will feel similar to a locker but is actuated through the ABS/traction control system, in that the system senses and brakes the spinning wheel, forcing power to the wheel with better traction. I've used it before in snow and it's really helpful for that. I have not used it on trails to this point, but it's definitely worth trying as it does seem to make a significant difference in my experience.

I have a sport, and I'm coming off a 2001 OR that I had for 15 years. Wanted a OR again, but saw the sport and loved it, plus it was the only one on the lot :) I have taken it on trails many times, basic off road stuff, stock, and it's been fine. Working on tires wheels, suspension , skids, takes time and wait for it, $$$$$ :) Like lots of guys have said, add a locker. Or pray your buddies are around to save you!!!

I understood what you meant but the best tread in the whole world is still inferior to a locker.

I see this a lot too. I chalk it up to people running 4WD when they dont need to. I went to a camping spot with a buddy, I was in 2wd most of the time and when i slipped put it in 4WD, was in it about 50% of the time. He was running 4Lo the whole time....

You would have been better with the OR. Both OR and Sport cost the same but the OR comes with a lot more OR functionality

My friend has a 2015 (Gen 2) TRD off road, and I can tell you the suspension is a bit softer than my 2016 TRD sport, which has a very stiff ride. The sport is more than capable in 4 wheel drive, it is really good in the snow in these parts.

Check Out My Build Thread :)
i just think of it as whichever works best for you... i would say if its really required a rear locker like many have stated would be fairly easy to add and would basically make it an OR... driver mod and some maxtrax/winch will get you out of most situations as well lol

skewp with locker.... best of both worlds.

if you bought the sport... you can add an air locker and use it in 4hi.... something that the factory elocker cant do.

Also you have on board air for airing up your tires after you go off road!

think about a regear if you add lockers as you will already be in that bad boy.

I wish I would have bought the OR and not the sport but I am very happy with the duel lockers and 4.88's...

    lockers > tires

lockers + tires = beast mode

Really simple way to explain how it works and made all the way back in 1937!
To be fair that's all solid dry rock. Nothing loose to lose grip on. Try doing that on a muddy hill climb.

My point is 90% driver, 10% equipment. The older I get the truer that statement gets...

No complaints, my TRD Sport feels confident slicing thru freeway ramps and interchanges :burnrubber:

It’s a slang for “young d*ck” in vietnamese. I just thought it was inappropriate saying it publicly here ;))

I wish I had gone with a sport because I would have preferred manual transmission Access Cab. But this OR is awesome too. You are good either way OP.

You don't need lockers or to spend a lot of money. The truck will go far without any of it.

Sign up for a free (or cheap club) off road driving course and you'll be better off than 99% of the bros that buy a loaded optioned out truck and don't know how to pick a line or apply throttle and brake properly.

You'll also know the right way to recover a stuck vehicle, stay the trail concepts, and when to call it and go for help before you get too deep.
