Did I mess up

Installed fog lights from Amazon I found a harness w/o a plug going in on my SR just happened to be for a different lighting configuration anyway the power now goes to the current headlight system when the lights go on and off so does the power to the fogs.

 

So your truck is pre-wired for fogs and you used that plug for your new fog lights? Power only goes to them when the headlights are on? If that's correct then it's working like it's supposed to. The foglight's will only work on a taco when the headlights are on. There is a mod to do a fog light anytime mod but a stock Taco won't allow fog lights w/o headlights being on.

 

I stared at it for like 2 minutes and re read it over and over. Then I just left the thread.

 

I figured I'd just reconstruct and see if I'm right or not.

The fogs can only turn on while the headlights are on

 

If that’s what he means.. my fogs come on when set to DRL only/no low beam (not auto). Maybe a TRD with LED DRL thing?

That somes it up, they come on when the light switch is on parking light or head lights or on and will stay on when the brights or on.

Wired correctly they will only come on with the headlights in the on position. They should also turn off when the high beams are switched on.

I had used a test lite to find this, and modified a insulated wire connector by cutting half of it into a spade shape to stab it in the harness. There was a spot with continuous power and another with switched power that is the one I used. Had followed previous posts but couldn't find the suggested placement.

 

Just the opposite. Not the DRL.

 

This is on a new 2019. I have to update my profile and picture only difference is its silver

 

If interested I can post pictures my concerns are about wrong placement for fire or short circuit. It's late and I'll take apart and post tomorrow.
