lovely. What is that worth in Utah? That’s a $20k truck here in NY. A guy by me takes trips out to Oregon once a month with a 3 car carrier to haul back rust free square bodies.

I have followed the Tacoma market for probably 18 years or so, yet have never seen it quite like this.

But, they are still selling at these crazy inflated prices.

All good to hear. My '06 still looks new. I drove it off the lot in May of 2006 with about 5 miles on the odo. It runs as good and looks as good as the day I bought it.

I plan on keeping my 09 until the wheels fall off or the engine falls out.

Lol glad someone else shares my feelings about that.

Perusing these forums (3rd gen specifically) over that past ~year you would think that these trucks are useless without a 19" touch screen nav unit, heated / cooled power seats, heated steering wheel, and every other bobbin in the industry

All off road and adventure capable vehicles are selling for a premium right now new and used not just gen2. My friend traded in his 2018 with 30k miles for about $3 grand less than what he paid for it. Some dealers here locally for a bit couldn't keep new tacos in stock with production so peoples next best this was to buy used. It's a covid effect where everyone wants to be out camping or in the desert but the supply is low.
I don't mind having a vehicle that retains it's value well.

I was in the same boat when I decided to part with my last 2nd gen. But my old 1st gen AC MT was my first and my favorite. Many, many miles bouncing down the Texas beaches. Only parted with it when the AC rusted out in the cab/dash. Had a bit over 200K.

Sold my 2010 prerunner to 4x4 converted dcsb with 203+ on the odometer in September to the dealership for 19,500.00 they turned around and sold it for 19,900 Les than two weeks later. I had no intentions of selling at the time because how much was put into it. But when they offered almost 20k I knew I’d never in my life get another off that high. I miss the truck but my 2020 4 runner is starting to make up those memories.

It’s all relative, Tacoma is still pretty basic bitch compared to the rest of the industry. My 2005 Lexus has more gizmos than my 2013 Tacoma did.

What I don’t like is when you integrate OEM tech with data feeds from ECUs and start locking down what used to be modular for the end user.

i had 2 calls from the dealer I purchased my 14' from in the last year trying to buy mine and get me into a 3rd gen. was a hard pass... mind you it peaked my interest as i considered a Tundra or Sequoia Pro. but yeah no 85K here in Canada no thanks. i do love my 2nd gen but things annoyed me about it, for a 14 i thought the Nav/Stereo was pretty poor and used it until it failed. now i have an Alpine-ILX-259 so super happy and now i have CarPlay! the biggest thing for me was no temperature gauge... i had a 2010 Lancer GTS that had that and a nicer multicolored dash and instrument cluster. getting into a 14 Tacoma i felt i went backwards in time.

I get 1 or 2 notices a month trying to buy back my '13 SR5 4x4, and someone usually comes out to sweet-talk me when I get her serviced. They've always kindly rejected my offer to trade flat-out for a Land Cruiser :p

Bought my truck with 54k miles for 25k. 1 full year before covid hit. I'm extremely thankful I asked my wife for forgiveness & not permission! Truck was valued by USAA @ 28k the day after purchase!
