I bought a 2020 Tacoma SR5 with 57k miles on it for $32k. Truck came lifted, with 31” Pathfinder ATs and 17” Vision manx 2 wheels. It’s a 2wd long bed crew cab. Lots of people on the reddit forums are saying it was too much or that they got theirs cheaper and it’s making me sort of re-think my decision. At the same time, they offered to take my 2 cars as trade in for a pretty decent price compared to other places so i took that into consideration when purchasing, as well as the carfax reporting 5k routine maintenance since first purchase (1 owner). Let me know what you guys think, obviously the market is wild but i was in need asap as my old truck was pushing 200k miles, and drove it to them with a broken rack and pinion, slipping tranny and clanky engine. Also took into consideration that i will probably be trading in this truck in 4-6 years time for a newer tacoma after the redesign, and the fact that tacomas are sought after due to their reliability, that 57k is still baby years on it. However it IS a 2020 so thoughts and opinions help.

Why wallow in potential self-anguish if you already have the truck? It's worth what someone will pay for it, so you must have thought the truck was worth the price. For what it's worth, my 2018 OR DCLB with 30,000 miles on it was rear-ended and totalled last September. Insurance paid me $41,270 for a truck I paid a bit less than $35,000 for.

I’m by no means bummed out about it. Even if i did over pay it’s not like i’m gonna take it back to the dealer. Just wondering why some many of the guys over there wanted to throw in their better deal or offer and made me think “damn did i over pay?”. I did think it was a good purchase, as it was right at where the market price should be for that same truck same miles, i took into consideration the cost of the lift, wheels, and tires and it out that same truck at around $40k so all in all i think i scored a pretty good deal but i was just trying to figure out what others thought after seeing the replies on a different forum

    Like, so many.
It's a lot of miles on a 2 year old truck, but if you're only keeping it 4-6 years, that's no problem except to understand how it affect resale. If it was a 4wd I would think you got a good deal. I know 2wd drives sell for less, obviously. I'd say you did ok in the wild west of a market.

A little high but it’s a seller’s market. This is the new normal.

Did you get what you wanted?

    Can you afford the payments?

If so, then no, you did not over pay.

Even if you did come to the realization that you overpaid, what does this change? As long as you enjoy the truck I would not sweat it. Minor details in the grand scheme of things!

Tell the idiots on Reddit to go fuck themselves. Then drive your awesome truck like a kid in a candy store and go back and tell them to fuck off.

No money, all went to truck...
If you bought a vehicle in the past 2 years, we all overpaid.

Move on, you bought it, enjoy it.

I will never understand the market today and what people are willing to pay for things.
Enjoy your truck. If it was something that you needed to do, then you didn't have a choice. You won't be disappointed, nor will it let you down.
I just watched my niece pay $189000 for a house that was sold 2 years ago for $85000. I figured they put $30000 in upgrades.
she didn't check the history and had several others trying to outbid her, so she kept going higher. That doesn't sound like much that she paid but this is Ohio and that is a lot here.

If you’re planning on purchasing any vehicle in the current market then you over paid but everything is relevant. So in comparison to all the other over priced used vehicle on the market I would say your deal could’ve been worse. I wouldn't obsess or worry about the value because what’s done is done. Always remember 99% of the time any aftermarket modifications do not add to the value of the vehicle and they actually make potential buyers harder to find.

Not worth crying about its done.
I will say if you bought from late fall or winter 2020 on you probably paid too much.
I paid 33,600 for my 2020 sr5 4x4 in July 2020. That was a few thousand dollars under msrp.
I think I did OK. People weren't looking and lock downs were only starting to end even though supply of trucks was low too. I wish I could have paid less too but I'm enjoying the truck and don't regret it. You shouldn't either. You never know what the near future holds, prices might not come down soon.

Same kind of stuff happening in MA and FL (I live in MA and know a couple of people who recently bought in FL)..over list price offers, bidding wars, etc. Some here are even willing to forgo a home inspection to get it. My house is worth about 100K more than I paid 18 years ago, though in a way it hurts since I've ripped it apart room at a time and started over.

OP, you're fine. Smile and drive it. People said I overpaid buying "ONLY" a single cab 2WD 9 years ago. That's all I needed.

    Like, so many.
I hope, but I'm wondering. If dealers are making more money because of lower inventory, why wouldn't they keep it low?
